Yeah. I was hoping that if I put my auth URL into indieauth AS http://github.com/myusername, then it wouldn't bother following rel=me links and would just use it directly, but no. Might be an interesting enhancement, @aaronparecki? I bet @kevinmarks can tell me why it's a bad idea ;)
    Aaron Parecki
Not a *bad* idea, but also not the goal of indieauth.com. At some point you'll be relying on someone's Github/Google API key, either that of indieauth.com or another service. Maybe check out https://oauth.io/ or https://auth0.com/

Nice to see @Chase has added formal support for third party account access using OAuth 2.0. You no longer have to provide your credentials to @mint. @AmericanExpress, @Fidelity, @allybank, @TDBank_US when will you be rolling this out?
    Aaron Parecki
That's fantastic! Do you have a link to their docs on this?

@aaronpk I just got OwnYourGram set up — works great, and has a delightful combination of simplicity and just-works-ed-ness. Thanks!

Your enlightened thought of the morning: if you position yourself as a leader of the #IndieWeb and #MicroBlogging movements, maybe the URL of your #RSS Feed should not contain the words “something-demo.appspot.com” in lieu of your blog’s actual domain? 🤔
    Aaron Parecki
You're right. I just switched my Atom feed to be a local URL that redirects to Granary. The reason I don't want to generate my own XML feed is it's too hard to get right, especially with all the nontraditional content on my home page like checkins. #indieweb

Are you looking into a magic mirror? I’ve had that on my to do list forEVER. I think it’s gonna have to be a 2017 goal to finally complete.

@aaronpk Hey! Thanks for your OAuth 2 Simplified article. There's some broken anchor tags btw. The link should go to either "others" or "client-credentials".
    Aaron Parecki
    oh thanks! Fixed now :-)

What’s awesome? I still don’t get why I should be adding a third party (same dependency pb as Disqus) when my blog handles trackbacks alone.
    Aaron Parecki
There's nothing third party about the webmention spec! There are some services that will collect webmentions for you, but you can also receive them directly yourself!

Reading about #webmentions… the 2d “famous” post I stumble across is an ode to spam: https://adactio.com/journal/6469
    Aaron Parecki
What's crazier is that escorts site actually set up Webmentions and wrote a real blog post about it! They appear to be using @adactio's post to test it. https://www.midlandsmaidens-escorts.com/post-pinger/

    Doesn't Amazon use .mobi?
    Aaron Parecki
@nyquildotorg .mobi which is built by converting from the epub file. It's been a long process.

Thanks! I'm planning on doing a little writeup of the tech behind it soon.

And what is Nav under Desired Activity? (The loss of opening up to users - questions!)
    Aaron Parecki
@nitinthewiz Those settings are all described here: https://github.com/aaronpk/Overland-iOS#settings I should probably move that to the app's website now!

The server is an interesting thing. Considering setting it up on a vultr VPS.
This seems to beat Moves by miles btw!
    Aaron Parecki
@nitinthewiz aw thanks. Don't give it too much credit tho. It doesn't do automatic mode or place detection like Moves.

So long as it's optional, that's a great addition!
    Aaron Parecki
You have to run a server to catch the data rn, so iCloud drive would be easier. Doesn't tick the "data never leaves the device" box though.
