    oh man, awesome!

comparing to https://granary-demo.appspot.com/instagram/-/@self/@app/BM4rGs-lApG?format=json-mf2, looks like they match up pretty well.

one interesting difference: did you do an extra profile URL fetch to get http://aaronparecki.com/? it’s not in https://www.instagram.com/p/BM4rGs-lApG/ anywhere.

otherwise, next step, comments and likes? :P

    Aaron Parecki
@snarfed.org Yeah, I do an extra lookup to get full profile info as well as the lat/lng of venues. This is basically the same code that's in OwnYourGram. Comments and likes? mayyyyyybe.

@oplife Yeah, saw #indieauth earlier; afaik they shut down #openid support. Really need openid for existing sites =(
    Aaron Parecki
@joelpurra @oplife indieauth.com should still be running an OpenID provider. I just used it to sign in to StackOverflow yesterday!

@aaronpk https://aaronparecki.com/articles doesn't seem to have an XML feed, am I correct? I'd love to subscribe to one.
    Aaron Parecki
@ttepasse I don't generate an XML feed (too much extra code) but you can paste any of my feeds into https://granary-demo.appspot.com/?x=94&y=43&input=html to convert them!

That's not a terrible idea! If I didn't already have a good setup with Weechat and Glowing-Bear I might do the same! Tho I could benefit from a slightly better client on mobile. Glowing-Bear doesn't stay connected because it's a web interface, and it would be nice to be able to switch iOS app focus and not have to reload the interface.

@tomas_quinones It's great, but fair warning, it's nothing like playing a real piano. I treat it more as a quick way to key in chords.

@snarfed.org Well you managed to provide an interesting example in this reply! Your post has e-content so it's parsed as HTML, but then the links in the post aren't hyperlinks! I was worried my autolinker was broken but it's not running because it thinks the post is HTML.

I run the heuristics at https://indieweb.org/comments-presentation#How_to_display to determine whether the "name" of the post is distinct from the "content", so that's how I tell whether something is an article vs a note. If your mf2 has the same values for name and content, it drops the name and shows just the content.

Curious, how do you have enough user-facing ideas for 100 days? I bet I'd run out after 17 days or so. Otherwise, I should do this!

@shurcool Often finishing one project leads to two more! Also just working through my list of open GitHub issues will take a while!

@indiescripter Thanks for the explanation! It's great to hear this feedback from people new to #indieweb.

Your point about your expectation of being able to like or comment on the post directly on my website is interesting. I took the comment box off of my website a long time ago, with no regrets. I like that it encourages people to write replies in a space of their own. (Ideally on their own website, but at the very least from their own Twitter account).

However, it would be interesting to see what would happen if I let people "like" posts directly on my website, even if they don't have their own website yet. Maybe I'll do that for one of the 100 days!

@indiescripter hm, what do you mean "silo-centric"? We often replicate silo UX on our own sites, and we syndicate to silos to reach audiences that are there, but ultimately it's about owning your identity and data. If you want to see a variety of things I'm working on, check out my "100 days" project where I work on something IndieWeb for 100 days: https://aaronparecki.com/tag/100daysofindieweb You'll find plenty of non-silo things there!

@zackfern I don't want to maintain a separate code path for rending RSS. This way I just make sure my HTML looks right and it's automatic.
