@joasqueeniebee Interesting, what sorts of things could we do to demonstrate that people are welcome? cc @aral

@bouncingdan Would two categories "I have my own website" and "I want my own website" be clearer? /cc @aral ( We're chatting about this now in IRC: http://indiewebcamp.com/IRC )

    @aral actually. I should have read the instructions. I can use quiet <link rel= in the <head> :) @indiewebcamp
    Aaron Parecki
@laurakalbag @aral There's also a way to sign in with a GPG key if that's your thing ;-) https://indieauth.com/gpg (not sure that's really helping this issue in this case...)

@aaronpk: does IndieAuth not support OpenID2? Finally upgrading my MyOpenId to IndieAuth but noticing some of my favorite forums don't work
    Aaron Parecki
@codyaray IndieAuth.com does not support OpenID 2. I'm curious which sites you're using support OpenID 2 that aren't just provider specific APIs. Most implementations I've seen are things like Google's API where Google provides the identity, not like the original OpenID was meant to work. Can you give me some examples of the sites you're signing in to that accept OpenID 2?

@aaronpk where do you get the data? Don't see tracklogs in the API docs at https://code.google.com/p/car2go/wiki/index_v2_1
    Aaron Parecki
@zenobase but in all seriousness, I get the timestamp from car2go and pull the route from my own GPS logs.

@gregorlove It's still running, I'm just not living with a bunch of roommates like I was before so I don't really have a use for it. Also I never built a good sign-up flow for it so I only ever had a few other households using it.

Which is better for splitting the check among friends/small p2p payments?: @venmo or @SquareCash or something else?
    Aaron Parecki
I like @Venmo, but it makes transactions public by default (not the $, just the comment and people). It also requires everyone signs up for Venmo. If that's ok with you then it works well.

@SquareCash is nice because it's easier to use (you just connect a debit card) and doesn't feel like you're signing up for Yet Another App. It's also easier to use Square Cash from multiple bank accounts since you can just send from alternate email addresses rather than signing in/out of an app.

If you're talking about more of a roommate or closed group situation then there's @split_wise but I haven't actually used it more than downloading it and poking around.

I wrote a website for this like 9 years ago which I used successfully for 6 years. I haven't yet seen anybody make a site or app that's functionally equivalent to it though!

@aaronpk On your GPS visualization (http://aaronparecki.com/gps-visualization), did you weight the lines by frequency? or didit emerge due to small line size?
    Aaron Parecki
@krislikesmath The line thickness emerges because GPS isn't exact, so frequently-traveled paths are drawn in approx the same location and end up resulting in a thicker-looking line. The actual lines in the images are 1px wide.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
