    .@caseorganic - thoughts on free hosting @heroku or @meteor? Is it an insidious form of lock-in? Or just a really good deal for small sites?
    Aaron Parecki
    @JohnB In general, it's not lock-in if you can easily pick up and move somewhere else. cc @caseorganic More info: http://indiewebcamp.com/hosting#Is_using_3rd_party_hosting_still_indieweb

    @t_a_w And, boom, @aaronpk just fixed it! Thanks again, y'all!
    Aaron Parecki
    @t_a_w @bmndr Until it's up on rubygems.org you can use the version from github directly:

    gem 'beeminder', :git => 'git://github.com/beeminder/beeminder-gem.git'

    @aaronpk we’re going to restrict custom locations to only show up when nearby.
    Aaron Parecki
    @GetReporter Great! Maybe also cache locations from Foursquare that I've used so I don't have to wait for the API request to finish? Would help a lot when in poor network conditions or while traveling!

    @aaronpk do you at least use hack?
    Aaron Parecki
    @andpoul No, that would cancel out most of the reasons I use it in the first place.

    @aaronpk thanks! apt-get upgrade will apply all outstanding upgrades (http://linux.die.net/man/8/apt-get), btw. it doesn't take parameters.

    @ac Thanks! Corrected it in the post.

    @aaronpk I already upgraded that box to 13.10 in order to upgrade to the fixed version listed in http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-2165-1/
    Aaron Parecki
    @mattb Yeah it seems to be unique to 12.04 LTS. I need to use the LTS version, not willing to upgrade to 13 tho.

    @aaronpk on my box I got "OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013". perhaps you really do have exactly version 1.0.1?
    Aaron Parecki
    @mattb Are you running Ubuntu 12.04?

  • @matt@biddul.ph https://twitter.com/mattb   •   Apr 9
    @aaronpk you can also do this to get the specific openssl version: strings /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0 | grep "^OpenSSL "
    Aaron Parecki
    @mattb Unfortunately that *also* just returns "OpenSSL 1.0.1 14 Mar 2012". Thanks Ubuntu.

    To check the version of OpenSSL Ruby was built with:
    ruby -r openssl -e 'puts OpenSSL::OPENSSL_VERSION'
    Anything below 1.0.1g is vulnerable.
    Aaron Parecki
    @JamesChevalier @sferik Thanks but on Ubuntu `openssl version` always says "OpenSSL 1.0.1 14 Mar 2012" even for the correctly patched version. #heartbleed http://askubuntu.com/questions/444702/how-to-patch-cve-2014-0160-in-openssl

    @aaronpk @kenichi_pdx @kyledrake great work on http://flickstagram.org however I noticed it didnt import half my photos, any suggestions?
    Aaron Parecki
    @liamdaly It's safe to start the import again, it won't duplicate photos on import and that might catch the ones it missed before.
