@brennannovak Interesting and subtle use case. It's interesting that mailing lists basically operate the way you're intending. Does that mean #mailpile should provide essentially small mailing list functionality?

@kchrist A lot of the reason people use Github is for the UI it provides, not just a Git remote. You might want to check out Gitlab.org for a more functional self-hosted Github replacement.

@dantoml Just add rel="me" to your link to your Twitter, Github, etc profiles. Then you can sign in to the wiki and register!

@JoyfulAbode My solution is pretty manual right now, but works for me. @benwerd has a much more elegant system!

@JoyfulAbode Kind of, it's more like running your own IFTTT server. For example you can see all my "tweets" on my own site here: http://aaronparecki.com/replies and here: http://aaronparecki.com/notes The version on Twitter is just a copy. It also lets me write longer notes like this one!

@JoyfulAbode Yeah I think that's a great description of Instagram! I know what you mean about wanting to keep in touch with the people there though. That's why a lot of us are building tools to help with that: http://indiewebcamp.com/POSSE, although I doubt we'll ever be able to push our own photos to Instagram.

@JoyfulAbode I doubt it, Instagram is pretty strict about photos only coming from their app. The new Flickr app is pretty good though, you should give it a try!
