@JoyfulAbode My solution is pretty manual right now, but works for me. @benwerd has a much more elegant system!

@JoyfulAbode Kind of, it's more like running your own IFTTT server. For example you can see all my "tweets" on my own site here: http://aaronparecki.com/replies and here: http://aaronparecki.com/notes The version on Twitter is just a copy. It also lets me write longer notes like this one!

@JoyfulAbode Yeah I think that's a great description of Instagram! I know what you mean about wanting to keep in touch with the people there though. That's why a lot of us are building tools to help with that: http://indiewebcamp.com/POSSE, although I doubt we'll ever be able to push our own photos to Instagram.

@JoyfulAbode I doubt it, Instagram is pretty strict about photos only coming from their app. The new Flickr app is pretty good though, you should give it a try!

@chmod777self.com Yea that's exactly my point, not everybody a) uses apache and b) can change settings on their web server (shared hosting environments, github pages, etc)

@snarfed_org Yeah, we do keep http://indiewebcamp.com/events up to date very well, but the page could use a bit of cleanup in terms of presentation

@aaronpk I'm really sorry about that. Maybe try OAK or SJC next time? *DS
    Aaron Parecki
@AlaskaAir yeah I think I'm going to do OAK from now on. Wish I could have re-booked that flight to leave earlier tonight from OAK!

@aaronpk Really apologize for the delay Aaron. Unfortunately, the aircraft got stuck in SFO earlier today on its way to Cabo due to... 1/2
    Aaron Parecki
@AlaskaAir My flight *to* SFO was 2 hours delayed too. I know it's out of your control but I just want to go home!

Thanks for the suggestion! It would be cool to use the LINK verb.

The problem is that it's way less likely to actually get adoption using the LINK verb. The discovery step adds an opportunity to add a layer of indirection, which lets us separate the server that handles the webmention. While discovery is an extra step, but at the same time it provides a lot of benefits. For example, it wouldn't be possible to have a static HTML site handle the HTTP LINK request, whereas it could delegate to a webmention service by using the link tag. Additionally, some hosting environments may not provide a way to handle the LINK request where a normal POST would work instead.

Because of the benefits and flexibility the discovery step adds, we need to stick with it and can't use the LINK verb as cool as that would be.

Yes @t, BUT, evidence shows, too dang hard to make decent presentations in HTML, etc. Long time prob. Why no great alternatives? #osfw3c

@annbass @t Check out http://shwr.me - great HTML presentation framework, not too hard to use and looks great too! #osfw3c

@aaronpk do you have a link supporting the discovery that only google can consume http://schema.org data?
    Aaron Parecki
    @lidingpku Yes, @tantek captured it here: http://tantek.com/2013/219/t19/osfw3c-contrast-microformats2-cc0-owfa-ogp-schema #osfw3c

Why would I have any interest in schema.org if all I can do is publish my data for Google? #osfw3c

@benwerd Agreed for un-related content, but the use cases described in HTTP 2.0 push seem reasonable: http://www.igvita.com/2013/06/12/innovating-with-http-2.0-server-push/ #osfw3c

Fitting that conversation fragmentation exists at #osfw3c discussion on social standards. Some using Twitter, others IRC backchannel.

@aaronpk good. The two step jump is a little bit confusing. it would be great to annotate the source in IRC log.

@lidingpku Yeah, that's been bugging me for a while. I changed the format that shows up in the channel just now.
