The Google Voice iPhone app found a very clever way to make calls.

When calling someone, it used to first call you, you'd answer and then it would ring the other person.

Now it seems to make a request to the GV servers and dynamically allocate a phone number to your target, then it tells your iPhone to dial the temporary number which they forward on to your target's phone number.

The end result is seamless! Go to the GV app and dial a number, and it Just Works™

Edited a video on my phone in under 5 minutes complete with splicing, transitions and a background track. This would have taken at least 2 hours 10 years ago. We're living in the future now! #imovie

Just got this notice from Flickr about 6 hours of scheduled maintenance on the API. I'm a little terrified of what changes they might be making https://gist.github.com/aaronpk/6040998

With inspiration from @obra this weekend, I'm experimentally archiving tweets and other bits of data in a Maildir folder accessible via IMAP. Call me crazy, whatever.

@thatgirl do you have a blog post somewhere about the other bill splitting/payback techniques you use? I just successfully explained Expectorant, although we didn't use it tonight!

Turns out explaining stochastic bill splitting does not, in fact, take longer than actually splitting the bill, at least among @esripdx people. http://messymatters.com/expectorant/ http://bethaknee.com/projects/expectorant/
