So Musk sent emails to European Twitter employees, firing them. Problem is, you cannot legally fire people that way here, so legally they're still employed and legally owed money for their time. But also, firing people as exists in the USA doesn't exist here...

simply unforgivable that elon is forcing me to either get hot (instagram), get annoying (substack), learn what a server is (mastodon), or become an actual psychopath (linkedin)

You know that story about the bar owner who throws out the nice Nazi because otherwise the bar becomes a Nazi bar? This place is now self evidently owned by the far right and the doors are open for all of them. It’s no better than Parler or Truth Social now.

For posterity, here’s a screenshot of Twitter’s home timeline after creating a brand new test account during my first week there in 2009. I went looking for this to recall the name of the Everyone timeline. I have a whole folder of these from an audit I did that week.

Just want to point out that Satya Nadella changed the culture, focus, and coolness of Microsoft without losing tons of customers or having customers worry incessantly about whether it would survive.

Leadership skills are a real thing that aren’t just bloviating around.

Now Musk says the top priority for the company this weekend is ensuring Twitter does an awesome job to support the World Cup, according to an all staff email.

This event has required a ton of work over the years from engineers and has prompted widespread outages.

There was no vision shared with us. No 5 year plan like at Tesla. Nothing more than what anyone can see on Twitter. It allegedly is coming for those who stayed but the ask was blind faith and required signing away the severance offer before seeing it. Pure loyalty test.
