On the right, people are using the levers of real power. On the left they’re yelling about things on Twitter. These are the same, to me.

You can automate processes all you want, but ideas will remain the true currency. If it threatens you that more people can easily make art now, you should consider whether your ideas have any value beyond your technical skills, and if not, it’s time to get new ideas.

Text-to-image AI tools open up visual creativity to a vast blue ocean of new people who have never been able to visualize their ideas before because they lack the technical talent or have disabilities or maybe capitalism has stolen the time it would take to paint their ideas.

A common elder wisdom when I was a kid was that "you won't make any money being an artist!" Art, they said, is a fine hobby, but not a practical career path. I proved them wrong, but art is BETTER as a hobby. Let robots make ads for Pepsi and pay us to live so we can make OUR art

The thing about technology taking our jobs is that it fucking SHOULD, as in, it should take our jobs so we can fuck off and relax because we’ve made technology that can do work for us! Capitalism has fucked that all up. Universal Basic Income is a step towards correcting that.

Here’s why I’m not on the “AI is stealing from artists” train and why I think technology that democratizes creativity is almost always a net good. Someone asked if I was concerned AI was taking from my value as an artist, and just in replying I ended up finding new artistic value

The degradation of services we are seeing with sites like Instagram makes me think companies like Meta who are reliant solely on ad revenue are in deep shit. I’m seeing a lot of companies tighten their belts on ad spending and being more aware of where the spend goes.

✅ It has decentralization: you can self-host
✅ It has interoperability: you get a JPEG on your hard drive
✅ It has payments: your grandma can use them
✅ It has status-signaling: leave your name as a patron

It is web3 and I am now web3

Here’s an idea, @BIKETOWNpdx add a feature so I can tell you where/when I was when I decided NOT to take a bike because of poor bike supply.

Or just look at the analytics of when I check the app and don’t rent a bike within an hour.

I bet you already do this.

The American tech sector is probably set back a decade because of the weird economic distortions of crypto. How many next Googles or mRNA vaccines never got funded because the money went to fund a techno-obscurantist Ponzi scheme for some VC bros to dump on the public instead.

buying/selling/trading Amazon accounts is big business in China.

it almost feels like the all-caps gibberish names are a troll from these sellers about how easy it is to spin up fake accounts.

page 1 for "spatula" has a row of offers from BANKKY, DESLON, ORIGRACE, and TACGEA 😆

I can’t wait for something better than OIDC to be introduced.
    - Poor user experience
    - Poor developer experience: “just use a library to hide all the complexity” doesn’t work, you have to understand the underlying protocol to ensure the library is used correctly
