1) Yes, at our @nordic_choice hotels we have open wifi as standard. No Client<->AP encryption (WPA/23), and no captive portal to logon to.

Let me first explain some obvious reasons for doing so. (Often disregarded by infosec pros.)

I just realized I find a modem connection sound soothing because it marked a clear and intentional separation between ONLINE and not online. You made a choice when you were ready to experience online things. But now? It’s baked into everything by default.

I was involved in the hiring decisions on most of those people, and I can say confidently: the secret to a diverse team isn’t having a pool of mostly homogenous candidates and then picking the one that looks different.

It’s having a diverse pool, and then picking the best.
