I was the first person to hate Twitter, because I was a new arrival to the US and had no credit rating and the only cell phone I could get charged 10Β’/SMS to receive, 25Β’ to send, so I estimated that the new thing we were building would cost me ~$5000/year to use.

The XOXO opening party proves, once again, that this event has a remarkably low level of dingalings. There's probably one or two out there, but I didn't meet them tonight.

Something that I’m pretty proud of is we’re slowly seeing the number of female viewers rise on the channel.

I work really hard to make my content as inclusive as possible and I like to see that more are stopping by to watch. πŸ‘

When Google puts 4 paid ads ahead of the first organic result for your own brand name, you’re forced to pay up if you want to be found. It’s a shakedown. It’s ransom. But at least we can have fun with it. Search for Basecamp and you may see this attached ad.

I wouldn't say that I hope the person who invented the OAuth workflow goes to hell... I just hope they end up in a sort of poorly documented afterlife that's really hard to get into and you have to remember to refresh your access token every 24 hours or you end up in purgatory.

  • Hello IndieWeb. I'm here with a new website. It's really basic, but based on a new improved version of my engine and should be blazing fast! I also had a hardware upgrade - now I'm using an old notebook instead of a Raspberry Pi. The RPi itself is ok, just needs a software upgrade.

What I like about IndieWeb is it gives a bunch of small, relatively-easy-to-implement building blocks that provide parts of that, but there's still a lot that needs to happen to make it all work nicely together and provide a UX that's sensible.
