I'm returning to reading RSS (newsblur) and one of the weird fucking feeds I subscribed to ten years ago is "show me all new Flickr photos geolocated in my tiny town" and it's remarkably random and weird and I would suggest everyone else follow suit if you don't live in a big city.

oh. by the way, i should mention the other fediverse thingy i'm cooking up, that isn't pleroma.

i don't have a name for it yet, but it's basically a self-hosted blogging platform with tumblr features. it will support both activitypub and indieweb for federation, though.

i intend to use this to replace my current website.

I am so sick of this. I had a huge ad agency ask me to speak at their “diversity” event about finance for women. I asked for a token honorarium and they said it was out of their budget but that I would get exposure. Guess what? My $$ advice for women is don’t work for exposure.

I've read about technologies under the umbrella of the "Indie Web" before but never really leaned into it. I'm categorically compelled by the idea now! It feels like an attempt at reclaiming some of what we've lost on the internet: https://indieweb.org/
