I still really love visiting an Owncast stream (I'm hanging out at @streaming right now) and seeing people follow, like and share the stream on the #Fediverse.

The model where everyone gets a new identity for every community they join (1) largely defeats the purpose of federation (2) does not scale as people have *many* communities of interest and (3) doesn't map to our natural conception of identity.
I *hope* it's fixable. May take some convincing of Eugen, which seems hard from this vantage point.

I also agree that the instance timeline is a useful way for a community to come together, but I think that can be accomplished differently while everyone can still have their primary identity in one place.
And of course, someone should also be able to have multiple separate identities if they want to! -
Oh yes, and 3: Elon has very obviously and demonstrably screwed up a lot in the last fortnight. I have never done a layoff, but I also know you should not lay people off and then the next day say ‘sorry, we shouldn’t have fired you, can you come back please?’ 🤷🏻♂️

OK https://push-notifications-demo.netlify.app worked for me in Safari 16.1 on macOS Ventura 13.0!
It still tells me that push notifications aren't supported in Mobile Safari on iOS 16.1 though.

The notion that every street in a city grid must be open to cars is just absurd to me. Its such an extreme position to take that no less than 100% of roads be allowed for cars. What we really need are pedestrian only corridors where one can travel on foot and not be constantly dodging traffic. Theme parks manage this and their entire business is to extract revenue from a captured audience. If it was bad for business we wouldn’t have spaces predicated on this model. #Urbanism
