Teams can absolutely be high-performing when working remotely. This is a hill I will die on. It just takes leaders with empathy who are willing to trust their people.

For a second there I thought you were taking about MS Teams and I was like what world do you live in 😅

Someone reminded me that "web 2.0" was also eaten by its own boil-the-ocean project, the Semantic Web. But at least no one poured billions of dollars into RDF and ontologies and converting the planet to XML. This time we gave the architecture astronauts access to limitless money

@aaronpk, isn't Compass open to the public anymore? I think I used it a year or so ago, but now I get a "User Not Registered".
    Aaron Parecki
It's open source, but I decided I didn't want to host people's GPS data for multiple reasons so I turned off new user accounts on my instance a couple years ago.

The first two pages of a google search almost never surface blogs or personal websites anymore.

Every worthwhile question you could think to ask has been anticipated and occupied by search-engine-optimized by assholes.

The internet hasn't been free for a really long time.

yes let’s debate whether it’s better to have one hour of sunlight on the way to work or on the way home from work rather than question whether the workday should be so long as to take up all the sunlight on a winter’s day

Really hard not to see web3 as primarily being about the transfer of value from newcomers to early adopters

~5yrs ago @woloski picked up the lunch tab, over mild perfunctory protest, saying that @auth0 was making a little money now & could afford it. I felt a little bad about it (but also really like free stuff so wasn't gonna decline). Seems rather quaint now.

I've been a paying Spotify customer for music since the day it launched in the US, but its continued moves to takeover and lock up the podcast space has me reconsidering that entirely. I don't want to support a company locking up the open internet.
