I'd love to see you do a video about this whole process too! I just re-read that post and it's way more intricate of a process than I remembered it being! šŸ˜…

Today I learned about "ctrl+q". This command is known as "parking" and what it does is takes the command you are typing, stashes it elsewhere and clears your command line, then after you execute your next command, retrieves it and fills your prompt.

So for example if I'm typing a git command and realized I need to `git diff` first, I can ctrl+q to "park" the command, type the diff, and then immediately get back to my original parked command

Does anyone else feel that they basically lucked into a high paying career because their interests randomly aligned with scarcity and a rapidly growing field, and that it's nowhere near as hard, or as societally valuable as what teachers, medical professionals and care-givers do?

Nice! And I think that depends on your agreement with them but if you’re praising it then I’d say yes, that’s a good idea to say.

    My Flexispot standing desk!

Now my next question is if I ever mention the desk in another livestream so I have to disclose it again? šŸ¤”

Verbal is best IMO because you can explain. With the checkbox, I feel like ā€œok, what’s your opinion, and what were you paid to say?ā€
    Aaron Parecki
I agree, and that's why I rarely check the box. I prefer to say very clearly what the relationship is at the beginning of the video. I checked the box for my 4 hour desk build stream cause I figured people would be dropping in and out and might not hear my initial disclosure

The YouTube video seems to indicate that even if the company didn’t pay but provided the product for free, you’re supposed to check the box.
    Aaron Parecki
my understanding of the FTC's rules is that you need to clearly disclose when you get something of value, whether cash or a product. They don't specify what form that disclosure should take, so either verbal at the beginning of the segment or checking that box is fine.

Problem is, ā€œpaid promotionā€ is pretty ambiguous. And, does checking that box affect YouTube’s algorithm to share your video? Or change the ads it runs, or your potential to earn revenue?

It's super ambiguous, mainly because the definition varies significantly by country. It's anyone's guess whether The Algorithm takes that checkbox into account. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

That seems a bit much. Got a link to that video?
    Aaron Parecki
from the research I have done, it's a tool youtube provides that you can use to be in compliance with your local laws. e.g. if you don't disclose a paid promotion in the content of your video you can check that box to show it on the screen instead.

Just 6 days til we launch preorders for the new PK1 Extreme stand for the ATEM Mini Extreme! In my latest YouTube livestream I gave a sneak peek of the prototype and shared how I engineered this "by feel" instead of using real math. #pk1stand

Fair. As I said that was my takeaway from the article where there's no mention of "novelty". I agree that the tweet isn't consistent with that reading, but it might just be a thoughtless typing moment
