Update, she is a little bit High and has no idea how to be a cat with this evil cone on.
Keeps running into furniture with her cone. Face looks a bit like a cute vampire from Buffy. 15/10 pirate kitty

The COVID-19 bill is released and hidden in it are two *enormous* copyright provisions; the Tillis bill that creates a jail felony for streaming infringements, and the "CASE act" that creates a totally new low-friction DMCA-takedown-like court that can levy five-digit fines for…well, pretty much anything, without the checks on abuse a normal court has or (to my read) adequate notice to targets they were even sued.

These have real potential to harm average Internet users.

Back in 1995 I sent an online friend a photo of a ferret plush "using" my computer.

And she sent me back the same thing.

Back then you had to take a photo on film, get it developed, and physically mail it. So this meant a lot more than it would now.

    IT WAS SO CUTE DAMNIT.

    Password protected livestream

Hello! I'd love to be able to create a password-protected livestream. I'm imagining the simplest possible ui for this, which is just to prompt the visitor to enter the password when they first land on the web page. The primary use case would be to provide members-only livestreams for Patreon/etc, or private group streams for things like family video watch parties. In particular that means:

One of my favorite feelings is deleting a video from my to-do list after hitting Publish. One of my least favorite feelings is adding 3 more ideas to the list immediately afterwards.

If your identify provider uses HMAC based JWT’s and they hand you a copy of that key, get a new provider. That’s terribly irresponsible design and process.

I should look into the technology side again. I would genuinely like to take a swing at streaming without twitch for people already in my community. I really, really do not want to be dependent on them even if I make extra work for myself.

Of course, I would still rather host everything myself #IndieWeb style, but that’s not really feasible for streaming right now I don’t think.
    Aaron Parecki
Technology wise it absolutely is feasible. Community/distribution wise less so right now.

    Question for videographer/designer Twitter.

If I’m looking to paint a wall for my backdrop is there a preferred kind of paint I should use?

I’m thinking some kind of matte white color I can under light to get to a grayish tone.
    Aaron Parecki
I took my color chart to the paint store and found a paint chip as close to middle grey as possible, and got it in matte. Works well! It's the dark wall here.
