Feeling pretty silly about having just ordered this big stack of business cards I was going to be using on all my upcoming trips.

@aaronpk Oof, wish I had known about the lifetime pass. I spent $180 on monthly passes before canceling.

I don't mind paying for stuff but Plex is just so far beyond what I need. I have media files on a server, I want to stream them to a few devices. I don't want to sign in and have all these other extras.

    Aaron Parecki
yeah it's definitely a lot. One of my favorite features is that it can download files to my iPad so I can watch while offline, which is great when I'm on planes. I feel like this all got harder to do with mobile devices, it used to be pretty straightforward using just computers.

A school superintendent said something profound in his address cancelling school for the next 3 weeks. He said: In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little.
    Hear those words....

One of my favorite parts of IndieWebCamp is the infectious looks of happiness, joy, and glee people have when demoing what they’ve done on their own websites. A special thanks to everyone big and small who participated in the London camp this weekend.

@aaronpk I just feel like I hit walls at every turn. I was just prompted to pay $4.99 so I could play media from my local network on my tablet. They're targeting a niche that's Not Me.

    Aaron Parecki
as like an in-app purchase? Yeah that's a tough problem, they need revenue somehow, and I'd rather pay them than have them sell ads to me. I bought the lifetime pass several years ago and I haven't been bothered with prompts since then.

Had a fun and chatty social distancing live-stream about market crashes, supporting tipped workers and musicians, being immunosuppressed and how cute my cat is. Special appearances by @indiewebcat and @aaronpk Also this is my first sugar I have eaten in 2 weeks, maybe I will survive. Watch the replay on YouTube.com/anomAlily/

As experts joining newscasts from home-

If you watch closely, you will see them dropping frames constantly.

This is NOT a function of Skype or Zoom. It's because they are connecting over WiFi. WiFi is a wonderful technology that is HORRIBLE at low latency video.

@aaronpk I love the great quality of content and video/audio on your videos.

I'm helping out with https://foss-north.se/ which we now moved and are doing as a online conference with all the speakers via zoom, I'm mostly worried about their audio setup.

    Aaron Parecki
Thanks! Yeah the audio is really important. Easiest thing to tell the speakers is to use a headset, even Apple headphones are better than nothing.
