Not sure I follow. Do you mean parody/fair use? (Isn't the right to make derivative works one of the exclusive rights of copyright?)
    Aaron Parecki
oops yeah that's what I meant. The point is it's not just a rebroadcast, since his stream has its own personality and original content, nobody is gonna watch his and think it's the real Apple stream. Still not a battle I'd want to fight.

Yep, exactly what I was thinking for next time. Still a bummer though.
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah, especially because by most reasonable arguments yours would be considered a derivative work, and not subject to takedowns, but that sounds like not a fun argument to have with Apple/YouTube

  • The Apple event stream just started up on YouTube… There’s something amusing about Google shouldering the financial burden of streaming Apple’s most important event of the year.

yikes… well I guess I won't be doing this again! What a bummer… was fun while it lasted!
    Aaron Parecki
I'd happily leave your commentary in one tab and the Apple stream in another! I'm sure it'd be close enough in sync to work. As long as you aren't rebroadcasting their audio/video it'd be fine.

I didn’t watch the #AppleEvent but I think Apple just won the event camera game.

Most people (even news organizations) cover events like CES with phones and now you can do multiple camera angle with one shooter and one phone.

    That’s insane 🤯

    Simplicity (II)

    September 10th, 2019

When you ever had to fix just a few lines of CSS and it took two hours to get an ancient version of Gulp up and running, you know what I’m talking about.

    I feel seen.

When everything works, it feels like magic. When something breaks, it’s hell.

    I concur with Bastian’s advice:

I have a simple rule of thumb when it comes to programming:

less code === less potential issues

And this observation rings very true:

This dependency hell is also the reason why old projects are almost like sealed capsules. You can hardly let a project lie around for more than a year, because afterwards it’s probably broken.

So @marisamorby convinced me it was a good idea to try and make gnocchi from scratch tonight. See you in four flour-covered hours. šŸ˜…
    Aaron Parecki
oh no. I did that once, and soon realized the effort it required and mess it created was not worth the $5 it would take me to buy a frozen bag from the store.
