    Simplicity (II)

    September 10th, 2019

When you ever had to fix just a few lines of CSS and it took two hours to get an ancient version of Gulp up and running, you know what I’m talking about.

    I feel seen.

When everything works, it feels like magic. When something breaks, it’s hell.

    I concur with Bastian’s advice:

I have a simple rule of thumb when it comes to programming:

less code === less potential issues

And this observation rings very true:

This dependency hell is also the reason why old projects are almost like sealed capsules. You can hardly let a project lie around for more than a year, because afterwards it’s probably broken.

So @marisamorby convinced me it was a good idea to try and make gnocchi from scratch tonight. See you in four flour-covered hours. 😅
    Aaron Parecki
oh no. I did that once, and soon realized the effort it required and mess it created was not worth the $5 it would take me to buy a frozen bag from the store.

Exactly five years ago, I made this Git commit to discontinue multi-year certificates at @SSLMate. Today the CA/Browser Forum finished voting on a ballot to limit all publicly-trusted certificates to 1 year. (1/7)

What is the best wearable (clothing, shoes, etc) purchase you've ever made on Amazon? - and link, please :)
    Aaron Parecki
You're gonna laugh, but I bought 3 copies of the plain black shoes I've been wearing for the last 6 years when the price dropped, and I still have 2 pairs stored in my closet for when my current ones wear out. https://amzn.to/2Q3YMar #utilitarian

I do not understand why but people seriously love camcorder videos.
    Aaron Parecki
different market than DSLR/mirrorless. I use camcorders for filming 8-10+ hour a day events, when I wouldn't trust a mirrorless of a similar price point for that duration
