Centralization is *a* problem with Twitter, but it’s not *the* problem with Twitter.

The main problem with Twitter, IMO, is that its entire interaction model incentivizes hot takes and mass dogpiles.

Figure out how you want people to interact before you build it.

@aaronpk, when setting up Compass, which is better, MySQL or Redis? Part of me wants to futz with Redis just to say I did on Widnows...
    Aaron Parecki
MySQL is required, I think it uses Redis just for caching or some stuff around the trip tracking part. I can't remember if it's required or not tho.

When discussing API security, there can be a lot of confusion based on various assumptions. In an attempt to clear up some of the confusion, @dima_postnikov and I wrote a short article:

Plus the current server only has so much space alotted. And... compass sort of takes up space with logs. Can you rotate them, perhaps? After all, I wouldn't want to keep GPS data any longer than about seven to fourteen days, lets say.

Interesting, the whole point of it for me is that it's a permanent archive. The files aren't actually very big. There's no automated delete, but they'd be easy to delete manually since it's one file per day

First attempt at making a snap fit joint so I can make parts that move! It snaps together and definitely will not come out anymore, but also rotates smoothly! Looking forward to some interesting things I can do with this!
