So I heard a rumor that boiling a bunch of water to create steam helps improve the air quality but after over an hour my sensor has proven otherwise.

I actually ordered one on Friday and it is theoretically arriving tomorrow. I hope it actually does something! Also the price of the one I ordered already jumped 30% since I ordered it so I guess I was ahead of the curve there

I think I'm mostly echoing the sentiments of my cat here, who clearly doesn't understand what's happening and why she feels extra tired all the time

You can order room purifiers on Amazon. Many are out of stock but there are some. Or order direct from @BISSELLclean — I ordered a big one for the studio today, should be here Friday. Also, be sure to install @honey — serious saved $80.

OMG that’s exactly what my kiddo has been saying. (He uses the “pointless” point to argue the irrelevance of homework) Except he’s not expecting it to blow over, because there’s the next few decades to get through. This is his favorite GIF for this time.

The effect should theoretically appear when the steam condenses and airborne particles precipitate with it, this is stronger if the droplets are negatively charged. I hope the situation clears soon for you.

Nothing. Nothing helps, everything is pointless. Eventually it will all blow over but until then we'll all just be miserable. 🙃

oh that's because burning oil is a huge spike, and it's also ramping the co2 in your house as well

Electric 😕 but as much as I like cooking with gas I don't like the idea of highly flammable substances piped into my house, especially right now

Fair enough. Maybe I should add some mint essence to this pot of water

It's the opposite, the sensor reads a room full of fried oil as a huge spike but isn't reacting to this steam at all

many of the laser-based pm sensor packages, such as novapm, treat high humidity as pm material. I don't know if steam works or not, but you'd need to steam the place up and then dehumidify for an accurate reading. Steam might also humidify the place which helps sinuses. idk

Not sure it works but mentally it helps and makes the house smell better.
