I'm trying to psych myself into believing this 18 hour flight isn't that bad by remembering that 100 years ago it was completely unimaginable that you'd be able to travel from the US to a remote island in Asia in less than a day.

When I visit Lake Tahoe for a weekend and cross Donner Pass in the winter, I remember that I knew somebody (my great-grand-mother) who could have heard the Donner Party story told by people who (barely) lived through it. Wasn't that long ago. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donner_Pa…

Literally every time I cross the Atlantic, and the Pacific but that’s much more uncommon, I take the time to remind myself that I will make a journey in a few hours of effectively absolute security that would, only recently, have taken months and might very well have been fatal.

Yeah, i've got letters from my grandparents about their trip from Montreal to India in 1925. It took months.

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
