@aaronpk Most often it's salmonella from unclean knives used to cut, and then cut watermelon sitting around. In this case, it was a 2wk old watermelon that I'd just cut open... so we think it was nitrate buildup. Farmers use huge quantities of nitrogen to accelerate growth, but if you let it sit around, will collect in the rind. Nitrate poisoning is extremely painful, took a few days to work through my system.
