"if the only way we can achieve safe self-driving cars is to completely segregate them from human drivers and pedestrians, we already had such technology: trains." ๐Ÿ‘ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-08-16/to-get-ready-for-robot-driving-some-want-to-reprogram-pedestrians

Unfortunately Iโ€™m not a fan of crowds and riding the train is quite stressful (assuming I get a seat). And how do I get from my house to the train station in a timely manner?

I think what the American market really needs is a car that will autonomously drive policy makers at various levels of government to meetings where they are forced to discuss making mass transit systems less hellish & decrepit

My only counterpoint would be that we should kick the overly subsidized drivers off the roads they pay way way way way way way too little for.

Except I canโ€™t take my train from the station onto the road and drive it to my house.

Mostly because of the restraining order.

Yes, but in trains, you actually have to come face to face with other humans. THen the fear of the other might subside

Americans don't know how good trains can be since our Government has refused to invest in them and let existing infrastructure languish and deteriorate.

Not really trains, but a type of PRT, since trips are point2point and in smaller vehicles. Some extra flexibility in where they stop and load though.

But I canโ€™t take a train from the station out onto a regular road and drive it to my house.

At least, thatโ€™s what the restraining order says.
