Bikey friends: talk me out of getting this used Brompton folding bike to replace my stolen bike. It's a 2016 M6L from the Clever Cycles rental stock, on sale for $1349 down from the normal price of $1812. It has the Dynamo hub already built in. It seems like a really good deal, and from everything I've heard, Bromptons are the best by far, despite being way more expensive.

Brompton's are excellent commuters. You can take it indoors with you. Especially good if you sometimes do mixed mode commutes.

What Martina said. That'd be a good max carrying capacity/versatility for little storage space. Doesn't Lillian have a trailer? Bromptons are really nice bikes, but if I were serious about a folder I'd also consider a Bike Friday. They don't fold quite as small, but still pretty compact, good for touring, and ride pretty "normal" for a folder. You can often find lightly used ones or display models in their showroom. For me I think it'd come to pure urban bike (Brompton) vs slightly more all arounder (Friday).

Exactly. Also: this sale happens every year.

If you want a brompton then this is a great deal. Nice color too. It would also fold conveniently to fit in your apartment and prevent theft issues. Now if you need a touring bike then this isn't a smart choice. N+2?

I love my Brompton. They fold so small that I typically carry it in wherever I ride it. It’s amazing for multi-modal travel; I’ve taken it on buses, trains, taxis, and ferries.

Brompton is the best folding bike, hands down. They're not great on steep hills and I live in San Francisco at the top of a steep hill, which is the only reason I stopped riding mine.

The strida is crap in my eyes... A Brompton is a great investment - forget about the folding Xtracycle, get a burley shopping trailer for the Brompton and you are good

I heard something like this is quite amazing for the portability factor. You can just take it inside everywhere you go, and a thief would have to pry it from your cold dead hands.

I'm getting one of these soon in the clear/naked paint. Only issue is that they don't handle like a real bike, but nothing a person can't get used to. I probably wouldn't use one for touring, but I know people do it anyway and it's fine.

Last time I bought a new bike it was killing my lower back. Not sure if that's what you had in mind for "talk me out of getting this bike", but that's all I got.
