Totally passed the ham radio test in about 10 minutes of arriving. I only missed one question, and it was a stupid mistake. Luckily your call sign isn't based on how many questions you get right! 😉

Since they let you take the next level test for no additional charge, I gave it a shot despite having started reading the manual for that level only today. I still got 23/35 right and a passing score is 26! Looks like I'll be back next month to take that test!

In about two weeks I'll get my call sign and will be able to talk on the air! 🎙

Haha I'll just make a fake one for my bicycle. I wonder if those places that make the cute ones that they sell in airports will make a vanity one.

Are you doing this for any specific reason, or just for fun? Neighborhoods need HAM radio operators to get involved in their Portland NET - Neighborhood Emergency Teams!

Ham radio license holders in Oregon can get a special plate for their car (with your call sign). I considered taking the test for this benefit alone.

they're supposed to be quick, but I guess if ARRL gets bogged down, it can take longer.
Worst part is I got mine, then I had to re-submit for my vanity. So I switched calls about 3 weeks into using it.

Callsign took closer to 3-4 weeks for me... not sure why. ARRL gets backed up some times. :)
Congrats man. Personally, I'd hold off on taking the general yet, but personal preference. :)
Now find yourself a radio. :)
