Is it weird to eat hot soup with hot sauce for dinner on a 100° day?

There is literally no temperature at which spicy food is a bad idea.

I lived in Taipei one summer, long ago before air conditioning was common. People drank hot tea all the time, which made them sweat, which kept them cool. And spicy food was popular there, as it is in many hot places.

No, it's not. You want to sweat. Ideally eat it naked in a slight breeze :)

Lots of people around the world drink hot tea/soup/liquids during summer. It actually creates a sort of cooling effect for the body.

It's not weird unless you make it weird. :)
