It is possible to create unmaintainable piles of spaghetti code in any language, and it is possible to make maintainable systems in most languages, but the cost of making code maintainable is not equal across languages. But the worst situation of all is to have a code base in which which the code from 1990 is from the hot new language of 1990, the code from 1995 is in the hot new language of 1995, the code from 2000 is in the hot new language of 2000, and so on ... the advantage of ...

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
