Great talk from @rhiaro at @techmeetup last night. Now I have to completely rewrite my website to make it #indieweb IndyMark-compliant.

@johnnieingram @rhiaro @techmeetup haha hopefully not *completely* rewrite! Should only take adding a couple of CSS classes! #indieweb

@aaronpk @rhiaro I need a webmentions endpoint and all that gubbins, too. I've got the bit between my teeth now. I'm going the full hog.

Last call, here's how to ditch Typekit and Google Fonts, speed up your site and go all #indieweb with your webfonts: http://www.thenotepad.org/blog/how-to-encode-webfonts

@joeld This is awesome, thanks! No more "waiting for googlefonts.com..." I hope! #indieweb

  • How to embed and subset your own webfonts | the notepad (www.thenotepad.org)
However, I’m a big fan of not relying on third-party sites and services if you can avoid it. What happens in five years when those sites are no longer available? It’s best to know how to do get the same result yourself using basic tools, and the result will often get you better performance.

  • Next up in interaction - Slashie (www.slashie.org)
If a tiny winch was stuck at the wrist with a super thin wire leading up to the tip of our index finger, it could simulate a surface by straining and retracting the wire at just the right time and thus giving haptic feedback in mid air. This would create an “air tap“, simulating a surface that doesn’t exist.

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
