My five year old son likes video games and inventing games.

Tonight he invented a difficult card game in which virtual "hearts" could be used for hints and he offered to "unlock unlimited hearts" for a real $1.

He in-app upgraded me! And yeah he earned that dollar.

there’s no funnier caricature of masculinity than the Him from “holiday gifts for him.” he doesn’t drink any liquid but whiskey. he’s got 20 watches on each wrist. if he saw a single texture other than leather he would throw one of his pocket knives at it.

“Forcing your pronouns upon others” - what the frack does this even mean?

Nobody is forcing anything on anyone. Respecting people’s choice of pronouns is just a nice thing to do. It costs you nothing and shows respect for your fellow humans. Nobody is “ostracized” by this.
    Aaron Parecki
Maybe we should all start referring to Elon as "she" and waiting for her to correct us, then we'll see who's forcing their pronouns on who 😇

Not sure what you mean? If a creator deletes on of their video, it’s gone from YouTube
    Aaron Parecki
Sorry yeah, I was talking about your recommendation of unlisting *instead of* deleting. Unlisting it would only prevent new discovery of it, but wouldn't stop people from viewing it from their watch history or by sharing the link.

Deleting a video removes it from every viewer’s watch history, which could affect future recommendations

Fine if you want to change audience, but if you just don’t want the video visible, unlisting it and removing it from playlists is the way to go!
    Aaron Parecki
Interesting. That also suggests a viewer who has already watched it could go back in their history to find it and watch it again. So it's mainly just gone from recommendations and new viewers, but not actually impossible to watch again, right?

You aren’t wrong, the corners of the internet existed, but it was hard for them to recruit. People forget that social media exists to microtarget, to constantly deliver new related content to people to keep them addicted to the platform. They built the recruitment engine.

weird how turning the net into basically a handful of apps run by a few white guys in the same zip code transformed humanity’s greatest invention into a genocide machine capable of resurrecting & fundng a hate movement penniless & practically dormant by the late 90s
