too bad, try harder. it's 2022 and the default suggestions are straight out of 2007, that's not New Stuff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

if i've gotta go digging then you're failing my criteria
    Aaron Parecki
I mean then it sounds like maybe you're looking for something else entirely? No need to dismiss an entire community of people working together to build things because it doesn't match up with what you want 🤷‍♂️

lol. The self-fulfilling prophecy is complete.

Nobody bought Stadia because they assumed Google would kill it, and Google is forced to kill Stadia because it's unpopular.

Google's reputation for killing services killed a service,. I'm not sure how the company ever fixes that.

    it's not anti incrementalism

    because incrementalism implies change

indieweb is literally just conservatism. there's almost nothing new since 2007, nothing substantively improved or explored. it's just Web 2.0 sentimentalism as a movement
    Aaron Parecki
There's a lot of new stuff if you look past the home page. I agree there are some problems with how we've described things, and I'd like to fix that, but it feels like you're coming to a pretty quick judgment without a lot of context.

Jack's take is revisionist. He built a rails app, but didn't come with the idea of a protocol. I tried for two years to add protocol-level interop and he killed it after ejecting me from the company. He was somewhat supportive, but his passive framing here isn't great.

I spent about 10 minutes tweaking things to order this Pizza. The toppings, perfect thin crust, grilled mushrooms, bbq base. It was a joy to achieve a result I couldn’t have previously.”

on the one hand, it's very cool that someone can make an image when they could not previously

on the other hand, a tech founder talking like he now intuits the artistic process because he spent an hour editing his commission description...

I genuinely worry about how easy it would be for malicious people to convince naive users to "add this script to get X" when the script actually just steals their passwords and cookies for every site they visit

i also dont find non-federated indieweb to be satisfactory for a whole variety of reasons too
    Aaron Parecki
yeah it depends on the overall goal really. Scuttlebutt has done some interesting things with a non-federated and offline-first approach to decentralized comms https://scuttlebutt.nz

i dont know what you mean
    Aaron Parecki
maybe I misinterpreted the specific problems with the fediverse that you're referring to then.

I'm trying to find a good reference, this one talks about some of the problems, which Mastodon has for the same reasons: http://natdudley.com/blog/twitter-ux-and-bullying/
