Not being able to taste anything sure puts a damper on my interest in eating. I'm sure that avocado toast was delicious though.

Update: I added a bunch of salt to this broccoli soup to trick my brain into thinking I'm eating actual food. Now it tastes like salty bitterness instead of nothing.

Around fifteen researchers and critics have annotated @kevinroose's thinly-veiled cryptocurrency advertisement that ran in the @nytimes last Sunday. We try to provide the editorial scrutiny and critical perspectives that the piece so irresponsibly lacked.

If I don't get covid on this trip, it's a miracle - thanks only to vaccination. I'm trying to practice precautions (masking inside) but still eating indoors and outdoors is crowded like pre-pandemic.

If you include the 10gbps Nic I think the whole build is at $2500 including drives.
    Aaron Parecki

I'm sitting in my hotel room eating this müsli with yogurt and strawberries thinking "wow these strawberries sure don't have much flavor" ...and then it hit me...

I opened up Thursday's leftovers of extremely pungent lentil salad with blue cheese and it doesn't smell like anything either.

The only thing I can smell is the hand sanitizer which frankly was way too smelly before, that and a hint of coffee.

    Final server update!

Unraid is up and very stable now, figured out logining into my home router to fix IP problems.

Upgraded the NIC to a 10gbps card and I can now transfer 150GB of files to the server in 2 minutes 🤯

Very excited to use this going forward for editing.

wow, do I want to know how much this whole setup cost?

so then the first-grade whole class started logging into each other's accounts and sabotaging each other by spending down their points on the weirdest or ugliest outfits they could come up with. this is their generation's version of the cafeteria food fight.

@aaronpk I'm integrating webmentions in my website, using http://webmentions.io and I might have crashed your server. Although I don't think I ddos-ed it with more than a 1000 requests. Anyway, if it was me, I am so sorry.

Is there a good standard for representing a datetime+timezone as a string?

ISO8601 only stores the offset from UTC which isn't what I want - I'm looking to include things like America/Los_Angeles

This is a good call-out: since you can't predict future changes to timezone polygons, solving this problem perfectly likely requires saying "I will meet you on 5 March 2050 at 6pm in whatever timezone currently applies at 40.273502, -86.126976"
