Comparatively yes, but not just on CPM but because of brand deals.

However a $5 CPM is roughly a $3 RPM in terms of what you keep.
    Aaron Parecki
I'm just talking about AdSense revenue, not other sources. (My affiliate links make about 2x the revenue of AdSense).

Do you mean brand deals within AdSense? I don't really know how any of that works.

If you have a YouTube channel, make sure 2FA is set to an authenticator app (Google/Authy/1Password/LastPass/etc), a trusted device, USB key, etc. and NOT a phone number.

Also, make sure you’ve actually deleted any phone numbers as an option.

If you decide you want to do YouTube or you know someone who is going to start. Make the assumption that
    1000 views = $1 earned.

Because on average that’s what it’s going to look like, despite a few better paying niches.
    Aaron Parecki
My videos are about 1000 views = $5, is tech/camera YouTube one of these more profitable niches?

Escalators, standing desks and electric toothbrushes don't really stop working, they just turn into their static counterparts.
Is there a software analogue to that pattern? Damn lethologica.

This thread is very good security advice even if you are not a YouTuber. You should listen to her.

A big creator channel may get fast ticketed support, but us smaller channels would be screwed if this happened, so here's a thread I'll provide on security techniques. Should I make a video on the topic too?

Tldr: Sim swapping to take over YouTube accounts and run bitcoin scams.

Please for the love of all that is good add multifactor authentication to your account.
SMS 2fa codes are the simplist, they're better than nothing. If you use SMS, set up a secret phone number that you only use for your YouTube account. Your email should have 2fa on it too.

    For youtubers specifically :
    You. Are. A. Target.
Don't click things. If it draws on FOMO or emotions, especially fear, don't click.
Use different passwords EVERYWHERE. A password manager is a must. If a website has no limit on pw size, make those mfers like 100 characters long.

@aaronpk Building out my studio (thanks for all your info!).

If you bought a new camera today for streaming/video with $1k budget (body only is fine for dslr), what would you get?
    Aaron Parecki
The Lumix G7 is probably the best bet. $500 including a kit lens. https://geni.us/sJFt Then upgrade the lens to the Lumix 15mm or 12-35mm for better depth of field. Also get the usb battery for continuous power.

Right? They're not even that expensive anymore either! I've been carrying around mine for like 6 years now. I think I've bought one replacement toner.

Upload is a comedy but it’s like a legit passive critique of tech eating up everything and finding a way to charge for anything. Those without funds are forced to live at 10 minutes on the hour and you can’t even get clothes in some cases.
