The most depressing part about being an historian who studies plague (among other things) during a pandemic is watching people react to deadly disease outbreaks almost exactly the same way 16th & 17th century Europeans did.

This what I think about the "healthy people don't need masks" and "if I get sick and die then that's just my problem" arguments about public mask policies.

I think today is going to be a tell me how you really feel kind of day.

    Confirmed.

Just is HORRIBLE UX as well as UI. Why on earth would you make the "Tabs" look like the "Filters"

And I'm so tired of hidden text fields. Just. WHY. It's abusive to new users who don't understand the stupidity/quirks of it.

I had video once of a UPS driver walking up to my porch, slapping a โ€œsorry wrong missed youโ€ sticker on the door, and walking away. No attempt to deliver.
    Aaron Parecki
That's ... something. There must be a reason. Do they have a quota and they figure it's faster to slap that note on the door than wait for an answer or something?

Youโ€™ll have to excuse my ignorance, but Iโ€™m trying to grasp what IndieWeb is. At first glance it looks like Disqus, or maybe Geocities, or maybe webrings, or maybe a mix of all of those. Itโ€™s a little difficult to parse what it *is* from the lofty goals on the front page.

    the indieweb is people!

Hi, I'm Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, and co-founder of IndieWebCamp. I maintain oauth.net, write and consult about OAuth, and participate in the OAuth Working Group at the IETF. I also help people learn about video production and livestreaming. (detailed bio)

I've been tracking my location since 2008 and I wrote 100 songs in 100 days. I've spoken at conferences around the world about owning your data, OAuth, quantified self, and explained why R is a vowel. Read more.
