It became a lot easier to get firm about how much I need to be paid after I got a clear picture of how much it costs me to live and run my business. Budgeting and financial tracking are invaluable. (@anomalily's book is my favorite: https://shop.ohmydollar.com/products/catsguidetomoney) #PublishingPaidMe

Thanks to @FiloSottile for sending out https://golang.org/cl/236857 to remove hurtful terminology in the #golang tree.

    Better late than never.

(Preemptive: yes, whitelist/blacklist terms aren't racist by etymology. That's not the point. Rather, not perpetuating white=good/black=bad)

I know. It would be good to see a blog on this decision (and why it is important to Mapbox) - it seems like something that should be aired for much broader discussion.

    1. Police decided to violently quell protests to loudly proclaim they won’t change.
    2. The strategy backfired because we now have 100’s of videos of cops using excessive force. Ppl who didn’t think police brutality was an issue last week now believe police reform to be essential.

As a white person there is nothing to lose by assuming you are a racist and striving to be better. I have racist instincts and I fight against them all the time. Let's all reognize our sickness and try to get well.

I was annoyed that Mint Mobile doesn't give me logs on my data usage history so I hacked together a script that logs in and fetches my usage data from their site. It's just two API calls that return JSON so it was super easy. The login call returns a token, and there's another call that returns the used and remaining data in megabytes. I don't know why I didn't set this up years ago!

An important note: because the mural was finished after today's window for satellite imagery collection, what you see right now is an approximation. The next collection window is tomorrow, and, clouds permitting, we'll be collecting & updating then.

I was gonna say, this looks photoshopped. Cool idea for pushing out imagery updates so fast tho!

Some people are using their platform to spread awareness.

Some are using it to express their pain or confusion.

Others are using it to listen and learn.

Others are using it to provide a break from the horror...

And guess what, we NEED all of it right now.

    We NEED your best.

These aren’t protesters. These aren’t guerilla artists. This is THE CITY OF DC doing this. A public works department is using actual roadway paint for this. This isn’t going away any time soon, and that’s the way it should be.
