Update: all these comments coming in pushed me over the edge, I just got a new number to use with my phone for iMessage with trusted contacts. I'll keep my GV number as my public number.

Right now it's legit my only phone number, but I'm getting to the point where it's annoying that I can't activate iMessage on it. I'm seriously considering moving to a real SIM, but can't decide if I should port my GV number or start from scratch

@aaronpk about the same. Seems like the only time I used it was a span where I used my Google voice number as a primary SMS number back when that was powered through Hangouts.

Oh no, my primary phone number is still google voice, and I'm just waiting for the day where they shut that down. Should probably deal with that sooner than later 😬

I've had calls about property we don't own. I've told the caller that I don't own that property but will certain take money for it anyway. Nobody has taken me up on that offer.

To me the fallacy is- why do most people even need to know anything about it? The choice of what grant to use should be enshrined in SDKs and platforms. The details should matter to very few people, outside of troubleshooting.

I absolutely agree, the problem is certain platforms *ahem* still haven't fully made the switch

It’s like parenting. Coaching people on security issues is like parenting. You gotta say the important things, over and over and over. Endlessly. Without losing patience. They forget, they get distracted, they have other things to do. Remind them often.

Sounds a lot like advertising/marketing too. I suppose that's true with everything.
