listen, it's just a little difficult to take seriously some of these VCs and execs who are panicking about SVB under the guise of being worried about the employees and the little guys

After hacking on Windows native MSVC builds for about a month in an emulator, it stopped feeling so weird. But it was a struggle for weeks. Muscle memory is extremely hard to overcome. "Mind over matter" — I think not.
    Aaron Parecki
oh gosh, I feel like I'm using an emulator every time I interact with this physical windows laptop. It just doesn't respond as fast, the trackpad is wildly less accurate, it feels like I'm one step removed from the interactions with the computer

The value is created by the way in which you list it.

How do I find the value of this? This used to be a gas furnace, but the guts are ripped out, so it’s just decorative unless someone restored it. New, these things cost well over $2,000. It’s cast iron and weighs a ton. I can’t figure out if it’s worth $10 or $1,000!

🤯 TIL MySQL is aware of daylight savings time, and considers any times between 2am-3am when the clocks skip forward an invalid date!

In one session, it might throw an error, and in another session, it might store 3:00am instead of 2:05! 🤯
    Aaron Parecki
omfg, TIMESTAMP type columns are timezone-aware, but DATETIME columns are always UTC. How have I been using MySQL for 25 years and never known this

This is a MONTHLY budget. The rich have absolutely no connection whatsoever to reality.

As a classically trained cellist, composer, former Apple employee, and CEO of a design studio that specialized in icon and UI design, I am ~uniquely qualified~ to comment on the Apple Music Classical app.
    Aaron Parecki
I don't know why Twitter surfaced this to me at the top of my "For You" page, but as a trained pianist, composer, software architect, startup founder, and someone who interviewed at Apple, I am here for this! 💯💪

if you set your dock to hide, run this Terminal command to get rid of the slowest animation on macOS:

    Defaults write http://com.apple.dock autohide-delay -float 0 && defaults write http://com.apple.dock autohide-time-modifier -float 0.4 && killall Dock

    trust me
    Aaron Parecki
    Thank you for this!

According to my calculations, this will save me a full hour over the course of the next year. What should I do with the extra time?

Wouldn't you want to prototype with the largest and most diverse group of users first?
    Aaron Parecki
Depends on the goals of the prototype I guess. That's above my pay grade.

eh it's an open protocol, ideally there is no "official" client at all. Anyone can make an Android client. They're just prototyping it on iOS for now.
