    No prob, man :)

And, if you want it to not do the "unskip" thing, just comment-out lines 39-41

    https://gist.github.com/chris-79/4ffb9318c42cb3d0a0e8e7d670cfd332#file-export-current-slide-to-png-applescript-L39-L41
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah that's tricky, because if you don't skip all but the selected slide, then it exports all of them. Ideally there should be an AppleScript action for exporting only the selected slides, but I don't think that exists.

I forgot that I already had an AppleScript action in @KeyboardMaestro that does this 🤦‍♂️

    https://share.cleanshot.com/Dp6XLS7MGnjzg0TRkwsq

I made an "App: Keynote" folder that only activates for that app

    https://gist.github.com/chris-79/4ffb9318c42cb3d0a0e8e7d670cfd332
    Aaron Parecki
That AppleScript is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! ✨

The only minor inconvenience is that it sets all slides to unskipped afterwards, but that's fine for how I'm using it in this case!

I definitely can do it. As for stopping clicks from working, I actually can't do that, so I'm not entirely sure what happened. Ask on the forum (https://forum.keyboardmaestro.com/) if you need some help making the macro.
    Aaron Parecki
Alright I will give it a try!

Ok #Remarkable users, this is an AMAZING upgrade! It’s a custom generated PDF for your eink device that turns it into a HYPERLINKED planner! Almost a full app inside a single 600+ page PDF! I’m kicking myself I didn’t think of it http://tiktok.com/t/ZTRqkabBs/ -> http://hyperpaper.me

    Aaron Parecki
I literally just made one of these for myself! The year overview layout on mine is based on a wall calendar layout I've been using for 5 years, and I haven't seen any other PDF planners that do it this way! I decided to list mine on Etsy.

    https://www.etsy.com/aaronpk/listing/1366795167/2023-remarkable-2-digital-planner

The customizer/generator website is brilliant though!

Nice, well congrats! I hear they need all the help they can get right now! Lily worked there right up until the acquisition so I got to hear all sorts of stories 😅

@aaronpk Oh wow. Sorry to hear it broke things!

    Aaron Parecki
I want to believe in it!

I am also a little bitter that it took over the command-tab behavior without any warning and with no clear way to revert it 😠

@aaronpk If you're a Mac user this is where Keyboard Maestro really earns its keep. Set up the steps then assign a trigger — could be a keystroke, or click a button, for example. I have all kinds of things set up in KM that work like that.

    Aaron Parecki
I just tried but I can't figure out how to get KM to read a specific text field in the export screen and change the value. I tried the "record" feature, and then it broke my computer and I had to restart the OS and uninstall it.

@KeyboardMaestro, my friend. It can do the most amazing things… Like make that sort of click-heavy task a mere keystroke
    Aaron Parecki
Well that was a massive fail. I tried it, but I don't think it can get into the specific bits needed to make that work in Keynote. Then it took over my computer and they keyboard and most clicks stopped working. Had to restart.

@aaronpk can’t you automate keynote with Shortcuts?

    Aaron Parecki
You'd think so. I can't find any actions that would work for that.

@aaronpk Keynote as a vector drawing tool is vastly under-rated

okay, surprise twist! the support person hit me up a day later and said they talked to their boss on my behalf. they sent me my activation key!

this was a very pleasant turn of events and I’m back in the Blackmagic fan camp (though I’d still love to see more modern key mgmt)
    Aaron Parecki
    glad to hear it!

These days he’s mostly channeling this energy for good. He’s reading a JS book @sarah_edo lent me and quizzes me on how JS vars work. 😂 He loves it when I make a mistake.

don't inconvenience yourself too much, but if you've got the spare cycles: I have my serial numbers for the speed editor and Resolve Studio license and this is a ~2-week-old purchase — it feels like this would be a very easy fix for them if they wanted it to be
    Aaron Parecki
Sent an email. Will let you know when I hear back, but we're now heading into the holidays so I can't promise a timely response 😅

@aaronpk One of the versions of this inside Twitter for a while was named “voices”, which I always liked the feel of. Being able to follow either an entire account or specific channels has some interesting utility, for sure.

    Aaron Parecki
ohh did this get prototyped but never shipped? I think it'd be really interesting for sure! The good news is we can just do this on the web instead!

One interesting thing to explore with having my own domain on here is being able to separate create utility accounts strongly associated with my name. @blog, as a very simple initial example.

    Aaron Parecki
Ages ago I built a social network that worked like that! You could create categories under your account and people could follow all or some of them. I called them "channels" then.

    Aaron Parecki
oof yeah that's tough, a side effect of the low tech activation key mechanism they use. I can reach out to my contacts to help if you'd like tho.

I’ve long since given in to the luxury of allowing a specialist to fix my bike tires. The walk-up window at @SellwoodCycle has 100% spoiled me…
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah this may be the answer 😬 Until about last year I always went to a bike shop if I had a flat. Barely ever had flats. Replaced my tubes three times this year and got a flat again shortly after each time. I am clearly not cut out to be a bike mechanic.

So far today is going great. I tried to fix my bike's flat tire and it went flat again an hour later. And now my external SSDs aren't mounting which is making it very hard to do work.

Can I call in a "technical difficulties day"? It's like a sick day but for my stuff.
    Aaron Parecki
The nice part of replacing my tube twice in one day means I'm getting faster at disassembling and reassembling the whole rear wheel on the Brompton. Took only 18 minutes the second time!

Maybe I should schedule monthly sessions to keep practicing.
