@aaronpk I worked at bike shops for a dozen years and rarely ever got flats. I got a better paying job in tech and my flats-in-a-year rate has gone up, no joke, at least 5x. I’ve angered the bike gods.

lol! This is my third flat this year too, after having previously had only like one flat on this bike since I got it in 2017. I don't know what I'm doing wrong at this point!

I hear that. I had *finally* gotten my Global Entry in 2020, and had a trip to Singapore ready to roll...
Alas, it was not meant to be.
But one thing I discovered is just how much time was wasted in travel - and it definitely changed how I operated.

absolutely! The few trips I've done this year have really made that very clear to me, especially contrasting with the previous year of a packed schedule of virtual events.

Realize that traveling for work is usually a massive time waste & cut it by 80% for next year. The best way to recover, is not to continually put yourself in the same cycle.

At the end of 2019, after 40 cities and 97 days on planes, I told myself I was going to significantly cut my travel down for 2020. Turns out that plan kind of made itself 😂😬

Anyone know how to fix an issue where someone looks suspended on Mastodon but I know they aren't? Trying to follow my buddy @aaronpk@aaronparecki.com but it says his account is suspended :o

weird, I think it means I am blocked by the instance. You should email the instance admin to find out why. I'm curious too!

hm, I suppose so, but I'd want to use the S3 signed request thing to avoid persistent links to the files being available. Looks like Shopify does that built in with their digital downloads app.

The alternative federated protocols seem too complicated. I see a lot about the need for progressive enhancement on the web, but when it comes to communication systems people seem to abandon that requirement. Part of my nostalgia for RSS comes from how easy it was to get started.

Yes! This is exactly why we've been taking this more incremental approach with #IndieWeb building blocks, like adding Microformats to turn a web page into a parseable feed, then Webmention to enable conversations, etc.
