Spent the extra $10 and bought both kinds of washers at the hardware store to hedge against having to go back if one doesn't work
    Aaron Parecki
What the heck washer are you buying that's $10?

To people appearing on shows (NPR, TV, Radio, or meetings that matter)...
Your laptop mic, little headset mic, webcam mic, $40 desk mic, cheap lavalier you got on amazon - all suck ... I really do get you do this all the time. It doesn't change the fact you are ruining the show.

How do you all feel about Vegan Leather if you know it is *plastic* that feels like leather?

We definitely don't need more plastic. Do you think it's an okay trade-off if it means less leather? Feels like both are less than ideal, but I'm not sure plastic is a better alternative
    Aaron Parecki
The middle ground is only buying real leather second hand so that you don't contribute to the profit centers of the manufactures

I think it might be time to hire an editor, I literally do not have the mental bandwidth to spend so many hours a day editing videos anymore.
    Aaron Parecki
tbh I feel like the time to hire an editor was a year ago, I don't know how you do this much yourself!

@aaronpk Enjoy Austin! โ˜•๏ธ I'm in California this week... Hope the weather isn't too ridiculously hot in Texas while you're there.

    Aaron Parecki
Thanks! It was okay in the morning but gosh does it get hot once the sun comes out!

And of course Twitter opens the link in an in-app browser:-)
    Aaron Parecki
Oof yeah. At least they give you a button to pop out to the real browser easier.

So in your mind, no reason to ever use a webview/embedded browser?

    Or do I misunderstand?
    Aaron Parecki
The only time you might be able to convince me that it's acceptable is if this account is only for one app and everything is all first party. If there's only ever one app then there's effectively no OAuth and everything (including the AS) is part of the app.

    Agreed, as outlined here: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8252#section-8.12

However, many folks, esp when first party all the way through, are willing to accept the downsides for better UX (popping out to the system browser being a pretty horrible UX).

    Hobson's browser is real:

    https://infrequently.org/2021/07/hobsons-browser/
    Aaron Parecki
Frankly the "system browser is horrible UX" argument lost a long time ago once the OSs provided in-app browsers that share system cookies but aren't visible to the app.

I still use it every day and add new venues and everything too! It's still the best source of up to date venue information anywhere, usually even beating Google!

Although if it is a first party oauth integration (where one company controls the mobile app, the APIs, and, through a legal contract the Authorization Server), this injection is less of an issue, right?
    Aaron Parecki
This particular issue isn't really a problem if you control the app and AS, but there are other reasons not to embed the AS page in an in-app web view.

@Blackmagic_News Davinci Resolve has some great tools for colour grading video that I've found relatively straight forward.
    Aaron Parecki
The "Color Mix" section is one of my favorite tools in Lightroom that I use for photos, and I can't seem to find the equivalent in Resolve. If you know what it is I'm all ears!

If only I could figure out how to apply this color grade to the corresponding video clip! This is close tho.

Ah, then yeah, I don't have any advice beyond that! I've heard about people who use Resolve just for color grading and move the result into Premiere.
    Aaron Parecki
Yup. I probably just need to find the right people who do tutorials on it.

Have you tried Resolve Studio? I haven't done color grading with it, but I've heard it makes the process easier.
    Aaron Parecki
I actually do edit all my videos in Resolve, and it's by far my favorite over Final Cut and Premiere, I just haven't been able to get into the color grading tools for some reason! Which is kind of ironic actually

I enjoy editing still photos in Lightroom and tweaking colors and contrast and such, but I need to figure out how to translate that to enjoying color grading video, because right now it's my least favorite part of the process and instead I use the footage straight out of camera
