If you include the 10gbps Nic I think the whole build is at $2500 including drives.
    Aaron Parecki
    that's...surprisingly not bad

    Final server update!

Unraid is up and very stable now, figured out logining into my home router to fix IP problems.

Upgraded the NIC to a 10gbps card and I can now transfer 150GB of files to the server in 2 minutes 🤯

Very excited to use this going forward for editing.
    Aaron Parecki
wow, do I want to know how much this whole setup cost?

@aaronpk I'm integrating webmentions in my website, using http://webmentions.io and I might have crashed your server. Although I don't think I ddos-ed it with more than a 1000 requests. Anyway, if it was me, I am so sorry.
    Aaron Parecki
It looks like it's still up to me, what error are you getting?

To top it off you got „einen verlängerten“ as your coffee of choice, which quite literally translates to „elongated“ - what a combo!
    Aaron Parecki
That seemed to be the closest they had to an Americano, but then they forgot to add hot water and milk that I asked for, so I ended up with just an espresso shot anyway

@aaronpk Next time you visit that bar take a closer look at the map. I think it's dropped Aotearoa New Zealand off the edge of the world. Should be to the right of Australia… 😒

Small biz owners—what do you know about “Dun & Bradstreet”? Years ago they tried to get me to pay $$$ to be “listed”. I refused. Now they are “providing” QBO with a “business credit score”, and mine is terrible, even though my business has a decade+ perfect payment history. 🤨
    Aaron Parecki
Ugh it's basically a legitimatized scam as far as I can tell. I had to register to get an Apple Developer Account but that's the only thing I've ever needed it for.

Does anyone in Portland have know what's up with the collapsing house at 33 N Fargo, surrounded by new apartment buildings? Who owns it? Why wouldn't they have sold it yet? https://www.portlandmaps.com/detail/property/33-N-FARGO-ST/R308611_did/

This is hilarious tho, from the portlandmaps history: "COMPLAINT RECEIVED - BUIDLING SLOWLY COLLAPSING, GUTTERS OFF"

I remember hearing that they refused to sell when those apartments were being planned but I don't remember where I heard that now!

one of the other benefits of this strategy is it makes every purchase hit my wallet twice as hard, so I have to really consider if I should actually buy the thing

This is not financial advice, but every $ I spend on Apple products this year I will also be investing $ into buying Apple as a stock.

My philosophy is that if I own $1000 of products (or have) from a company, I should own $1000 of the stock.

    Apple, Sony, Google, Microsoft.

If the contract is paid off, why are you trying to get out of it?
    Aaron Parecki
you'd think it would be that simple 😅

It's more like they are renting space on the roof, and instead of paying the homeowner, the homeowner pays significantly less than they would if they bought the panels outright. It's a Whole Thing™

@aaronpk Aaron any idea why the chrome chat extension will not display some profile photos in the chat display? It’s very rare but Tony at QuickTech Solutions has this happen and so do I?

Tesla Solar was a shit show. They took a month from $100 deposit to actually contact me. Took another 2-3 months for a first inspection. They went silent for 4-5 more months until I called up my rep (my rep changed 3x in this timeline) and they said my roof failed the inspection.
    Aaron Parecki
oh gosh, ask me about my Tesla panel experience some time... (actually it was me taking over a Solarcity lease and then Tesla bought them)

I never thought when I bought my last name as a domain and setup my email as matt@haughey.com that it would become a subject of conversation with every single person that requests my email in person or over the phone 25 years later
