@aaronpk Probably not RSS, but I know for tvOS there are a handful of "IPTV" apps that I think are mostly for overseas television providers where it'll import a playlist and surface different "channels". All those apps are pretty janky, though. Stuff like this: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/iprotv-for-iptv-m3u-content/id1476267616#?platform=appleTV

    Aaron Parecki
yeah cool, definitely wasn't thinking literally RSS, but there must be some sort of generic format for this. If it hasn't been done well yet, maybe that's something worth trying? At the very least writing that for AppleTV means you are helping open up that platform since other people would be able to then use your app to view other videos in tvOS.

I want to build a tiny TV app to surface the streams in the Owncast directory. I haven't done this because:

    1. The AppleTV is the best set top box, but if I built a tvOS app you'd all mock me and say I hate openness.
    2. The Roku is the most popular, but Rokus _suck_ and they suck even more developing for them. I know, I've worked on multiple Roku apps.
    3. Android TV boxes are ignored except for the Fire TV stick, and those are just advertising channels for Amazon that I want no part of.

    Aaron Parecki
Is there a way to do it by providing something like an RSS feed to apps that might already exist on various platforms?

@aaronpk lol, spend some time in the Middle East. Midday it may be 110F/43.5C and in the evening it would drop down to around say 90F/32.2C in the evening. Even though 90 is still warm, the drop was so extreme we would be putting on sweaters and jackets in the evening..lol

    Aaron Parecki
nope nope no thanks. I had my share of 110+F weather in Portland this summer.

I didn't know this either. We have been using Netlify for a project. I should look into it next week, to see if this would be a problem for us.

They said they're going to have a fix for this early next year!

    Both I guess?

Maybe I'm wrong, but let's say I wrote a trending post and 100 different people tweet it, that results in a hundred web mentions or?

There's no discussion, just the info that 100 people shared it (which I think is not particularly useful).
    Aaron Parecki
There's enough info for you to hide those if you want to only show specifically the replies and not just mentions

hey! we're aware of this & it's definitely something we're fixing. it looks like it's rolling out Q1-ish

in the meantime, we can delete anything you need deleted if you open a topic in the forums https://answers.netlify.com/ (I know that's not ideal, but we'll get you taken care of)
    Aaron Parecki
Thank you! This is much needed. We ended up deleting the whole site and starting over and luckily it went extremely smoothly.

Don't know, I've never used it. I'm just getting bit by this @netlify issue on a project right now and it's incredibly frustrating.

This M1 Max MBP is great, and I do not regret getting it. It will be my computer for years. If you do not already have an M1, you will be blown away.

But if you already have an M1 Air or MBP, don’t expect to be blown away. It’s better, but not stunningly so.
    Aaron Parecki
I have the M1 Air and that is so much better than my last computer that I don't feel the need to upgrade to the Pro/Max, so this is a nice confirmation

Yeah I sent the tracking numbers to customer service and hopefully they can sort it out
    Aaron Parecki
also lol i never knew that scam had a name. I just clicked thru to the link they sent that kind of hints at it without actually acknowledging the scam

I doubt that's what's going on though? I suspect it's a school teacher who got her address wrong.
    Aaron Parecki
That is a surprisingly consistent collection of items. If it happens over a long enough period of time it seems like you should be able to give Amazon support the tracking number and they can find out who ordered it and fix it.

I finally found the appropriate thing under "Report suspicious activity" where I could provide the tracking numbers. I have reported the two most recent packages I received. Hopefully it's just a weird warehousing glitch.

    Anyway, thanks for reaching out!
    Aaron Parecki
This actually sounds like that review scam where they order their own product that actually gets shipped and then leave a review that shows up as a "verified purchase"

Paint Shop Pro. Adobe Premiere (tho I ended up getting a student discount on that in high school). Cool Edit Pro. Macromedia Flash. Final Cut. StarCraft. WinZip. DeadAIM. That’s all I can think of right now but there was lots more.

Not “würde”. “Eine Tasse Kaffee, bitte” would be the default. Maybe “ich hätte gerne eine Tasse Kaffee” (Note the default unit for the item Kaffee are different, as is the expected container… well, depending on the establishment.)
    Aaron Parecki
I just found this which seems like a reasonable explanation of the differences between the three. I'm excited that I get to practice this all in 2 weeks when I'm in Düsseldorf! https://german.stackexchange.com/questions/22566/difference-between-ich-m%C3%B6chte-and-ich-h%C3%A4tte-gerne-and-ich-w%C3%BCrde-gerne

“Ich helfe Ihnen gerne” or “ich kann Ihnen gerne helfen” is what I would expect. Although help is generally less generously offered :-) but that has less to do with grammar.
    Aaron Parecki
okay how about ordering at a coffee shop... I was always taught "Ich würde gern einen Kaffee" rather than "Ich möchte einen Kaffee". Same idea right?

The German is just like the English: “ich würde gerne mal diesen Berg besteigen” — “I’d love to climb this mountain some day” — lots of assumptions implied, and it may never happen. I’d like tech support be a bit more certain that they want to help.
    Aaron Parecki
But isn't it also the same as:

    "Ich würde gern Ihnen helfen"
    vs
    "Ich will dir helfen"

Or does being so direct in German sound less abrasive than in English?
