After 11 years and over 2,000 students, today is my last day as a teacher. Very bittersweet, but I’m incredibly excited and grateful to have the opportunity to focus on YouTube full time.

The entire phone system was designed assuming that it was a closed system. Security was all physical. If you can connect, you must be authorized.

Opening it up and connecting it to the internet has created a wonderful mess.

I feel like we need to hold up this example when we talk about the zero trust model. Otherwise it sounds like we're just being paranoid.

it's less terrible if it's purely for multifactor, but a surprising number of places will use it as the only factor for account recovery

Anyway if you're wondering what you've been missing on Twitter, today Twitter started instantly autobanning anyone who said the word "Memphis" and did not figure out what had happened and fix it for like six hours
The entire time people were experimentally tweeting "Wait, do you really get banned if you say 'Memphis'?" and getting banned

I’m just glad my own website can’t ban me for saying Memphis

Many people celebrate DST. All rituals are very weird when you consider them! For example, gathering once a year to eat turkey is very weird. Stringing lights on a tree in the winter is weird. When traditions are popular or old, it doesn't make them more or less normal.

I have fond memories of the "hour that didn't exist" parties in the fall. Anything you did between the first 1-2am would be erased by the second 1-2am immediately following it

Looks interesting. My Cisco telepresence gear does that. But the Cisco stuff was a wee bit more than $200 and a lot harder to set up.
