You raise a good point :) but I donโ€™t think I ever witnessed anyone GTFOโ€™ing a Zoom without excusing themselves...
    Aaron Parecki
You are clearly on much smaller zoom meetings than I am ๐Ÿ˜…

I have been in meetings in which someone left slamming the door or similar shenanigans: but I have *NEVER* seen anything equivalent in Zoom.
Is it the medium, or just different circumstances? Whatโ€™s your experience?
    Aaron Parecki
wait how do you make a sound loud enough to be recognized as a door slam while also actually leaving the meeting? It's a lot easier to just quietly disappear from a zoom

I had a gig in Hawaii cancel right as Covid hit. I personally HATE travel for work. The Pamdemic has shown me I donโ€™t need to travel ever again.

    And Iโ€™m happy about it.
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah Pam has shown me that I don't *need* to travel for work, but sometimes it's fun and I want to do the fun parts of it again

At the end you say to use local validation in the API gateway and "if" a particular API requires, then do the remote. Are you implying there are cases the resource server does not need to do any validation at all if the gateway already handles it?
    Aaron Parecki
Yeah, super context dependent of course, but imagine a read-only API method for returning the user's rewards points balance. Not terribly sensitive info, not likely to change often. The gateway validation is likely good enough.

I'm p sure a little RSS reader that has a little comment box and a โ€œlikeโ€ button under each item that send little web mentions would be the perfect set up for a wholesome, self-owned network
    Aaron Parecki
Yep! Thatโ€™s basically how my current social media setup works. More details and links here: https://aaronparecki.com/2018/03/12/17/building-an-indieweb-reader We need more people building these components, happy to help answer questions if youโ€™re interested!

@TrishPhoto brought her "big dog" camera (Sony ฮฑ7R III), but did not have a lens to capture the babies from a safe distance.

"I can fix this," she said and placed an order on @BHPhotoVideo for 2-day delivery.

It arrived last night, just in time. Thanks, @FedEx!

is that everything including colour stuff, or just the gain, focus, blacks, and shutter speed? Even so, this is interesting and does make me more interested in SDI cameras for my various angles. Thanks for the heads up!
    Aaron Parecki
No idea, but definitely worth digging around for more info! Try checking the PTZOptics help site, they seem to have some info there.

Hmm, is there anyone you think could know for sure? Like sure I'd love to investigate but I'd rather spend money only on stuff that'll work correctly! Like I'll probably get the BMMSC for example.
    Aaron Parecki
I don't have any SDI cameras other than the Blackmagic studio camera, but I did find some mentions that the ATEM can control SDI PTZOptics cameras

Gah, that's frustrating. I was hoping that the converter would allow me to use any SDI camera with the ATEM camera control. Especially since the micro converter page says you can use an SDI camera and control it within ATEM.
    Aaron Parecki
You know now that you mention it, I'm not actually sure that's true. I haven't actually confirmed it but I assumed that based on how much their other products are locked into their own ecosystem.

@aaronpk hi Aaron, I'm currently looking into the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, and am thinking of getting some bidirectional 3G-SDI converters from Blackmagic to use full camera control on the ATEM. Do you know if this works with every SDI camera? And if not, what limitations there are
    Aaron Parecki
the converters should work with any SDI signal, but the camera control in the ATEM is only for the Blackmagic cameras

Film & video YouTube creators arenโ€™t talking about gear all the time because the gear matters that much, but because itโ€™s good for SEO and traffic because thereโ€™s a wave of people searching for specific camera models, lenses, etc.
