I wouldn't have survived college without those cheap burnable CD-ROMs. You'd buy 10 packs of Zip drives in bulk and every single one on the pack would fail.
    Aaron Parecki
I owned a zip drive for a hot second. CDRWs ended up being far cheaper and better.

You've got to be kidding me. Deleting @AppleMusic didn't solve the problem! WTF! Is there no way to NOT be profiled?

Hey @tim_cook, I thought "iPhone IS privacy". What is this?!

    #iOS14
    Aaron Parecki
whoa whoa whoa. This doesn’t seem right.

although it does seem like they’re probably doing this in the most privacy-preserving way possible? Still monopolistic unless they expose that as an API to other apps.

but still that’s quite some fingerprinting going on wow

    In 1982, the Commodore64 cost an inflation-adjusted $1,600 - and had 64KB of RAM.

A compact disc outputs 176KB. Per second.

The CD is basically a temporal aberration and should not have existed at all.
    Aaron Parecki
In the grand scheme of things, the CD barely did exist at all

@aaronpk great stream today - are you going to do an install video for that rasPi Hyperdeck clone - sounds amazing. Cheers.
    Aaron Parecki
Thanks! I probably should, but it was surprisingly straightforward so it'd be a short video!

Great first episode guys! Curious why PKCE wasn’t mentioned as a way to “protect” public clients. Can these protocols work together? Or would it be overkill at this point?
    Aaron Parecki
PKCE solves a different problem. Stay tuned for next week's episode!

For me it’s a few things.

Screenshots are easier to take and archive.

Files are easier to transfer between devices.

iMessage means I don’t need to check my phone.

Screen recordings are MUCH easier to do.
    Aaron Parecki
This sums up my feelings exactly.

I have cables in cardboard box, every time I need one and I suspect it's there, I reorder from Amazon anyway because it takes too long to find a cable in pile of cables 😅
    Aaron Parecki
This is probably why I have so many cables ^^

    Aaron Parecki
    time to get another drawer!

    Aaron Parecki
I think you may underestimate how many types of cables I have... USB A, micro USB, USB-C with data, C with thunderbolt 3, lightning, lightning to micro, long, short... etc

@aaronpk Does _OAuth 2 Simplified_ walk through building an API in a specific language? Or is it not so "step by step"?
    Aaron Parecki
You can read the whole thing on OAuth.com if you'd like! That's the contents of the book as a website

I assume they don’t take preorders? I thought it was going to be on sale today (Friday). Order button won’t activate. Thanks.
    Aaron Parecki
I thought it wasn't released until October? I wasn't paying super close attention tho cause I'm pretty happy with my current iPad/phone situation.

Finally canceled my Netflix DVD subscription. Packing that last DVD in the return envelope makes me a little nostalgic. I’ll probably never do that again.

    Aaron Parecki
Honestly I didn't realize they still had a DVD rental subscription

    Hey @aaronpk
I am missing sth. or isn't it simply possible to use GitHub as AuthProvider for different services running under different domains?
Because homepage in profile is the only one to support "rel=me" and can point this way only to one domain.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aaron Parecki
The rel=me link from github isn't really required tbh, because at the end of the day the app needs to use the GitHub API so it can do fancier verification. For example this is how I support GitHub with multiple domains https://indielogin.com/setup#multiple-domains

What tool does one use to “list” their podcasts in centralized directories (like Apple’s or Spotify’s gated one?) - I’m going to host my own feed but discoverability is a thing.

    Aaron Parecki
With Apple you submit your feed directly to their website. Not sure about Spotify. There are probably services that offer to do it for you but I'd avoid those. Add it to the podcast directories yourself.

I'm taking a break from doing live talks or keynotes for events until further notice! I'm spending the next several months to focus on my Youtube channel videos and grow my channel. I'll tweet about availability when I'm free again for speaking events. :)
    Aaron Parecki
This sounds nice, I should try this 😊

is that AQI or PM2.5 count? I have the same sensor and have been tracking indoor air. We had 200-300 AQI inside over the weekend and it was not pleasant.

LOL! Epic Achievement! Ticks ALL the "stoopid" boxes 🤦‍♂️ ...

CC (not bcc) EVERYONE, offers "free" (s**t) product, expects buy first THEN a payback later, and $9 lapel mic (yeah, right).

    Did I miss something? 😂
    Aaron Parecki
I get these a lot too but wow I haven't seen one that's CC'd to everyone yet! Bad move!
