Finally canceled my Netflix DVD subscription. Packing that last DVD in the return envelope makes me a little nostalgic. I’ll probably never do that again.

    Aaron Parecki
Honestly I didn't realize they still had a DVD rental subscription

Thanks for the inspiration. I was able to confirm that my box fan + furnace filter solution is fairly effective indoors.

    Hey @aaronpk
I am missing sth. or isn't it simply possible to use GitHub as AuthProvider for different services running under different domains?
Because homepage in profile is the only one to support "rel=me" and can point this way only to one domain.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aaron Parecki
The rel=me link from github isn't really required tbh, because at the end of the day the app needs to use the GitHub API so it can do fancier verification. For example this is how I support GitHub with multiple domains https://indielogin.com/setup#multiple-domains

What tool does one use to “list” their podcasts in centralized directories (like Apple’s or Spotify’s gated one?) - I’m going to host my own feed but discoverability is a thing.

    Aaron Parecki
With Apple you submit your feed directly to their website. Not sure about Spotify. There are probably services that offer to do it for you but I'd avoid those. Add it to the podcast directories yourself.

I'm taking a break from doing live talks or keynotes for events until further notice! I'm spending the next several months to focus on my Youtube channel videos and grow my channel. I'll tweet about availability when I'm free again for speaking events. :)
    Aaron Parecki
This sounds nice, I should try this 😊

is that AQI or PM2.5 count? I have the same sensor and have been tracking indoor air. We had 200-300 AQI inside over the weekend and it was not pleasant.

LOL! Epic Achievement! Ticks ALL the "stoopid" boxes 🤦‍♂️ ...

CC (not bcc) EVERYONE, offers "free" (s**t) product, expects buy first THEN a payback later, and $9 lapel mic (yeah, right).

    Did I miss something? 😂
    Aaron Parecki
I get these a lot too but wow I haven't seen one that's CC'd to everyone yet! Bad move!

I used to take more pictures of not-gear related stuff.

    https://pixelbanks.com/exif/model/Canon+EOS+6D/Pu

but also, I built my own photo storage because flickr sucked.. does anyone else even want a cheap online photo platform? A few things are pretty broken on pixelbanks, only turned it on for a demo.
    Aaron Parecki
ugh I'm so sad about Flickr. I keep thinking about building my own but then the scope creep gets out of hand and I haven't settled on what I actually want out of my own replacement for it.

You can order room purifiers on Amazon. Many are out of stock but there are some. Or order direct from @BISSELLclean — I ordered a big one for the studio today, should be here Friday. Also, be sure to install @honey — serious saved $80.
    Aaron Parecki
I actually ordered one on Friday and it is theoretically arriving tomorrow. I hope it actually does something! Also the price of the one I ordered already jumped 30% since I ordered it so I guess I was ahead of the curve there

OMG that’s exactly what my kiddo has been saying. (He uses the “pointless” point to argue the irrelevance of homework) Except he’s not expecting it to blow over, because there’s the next few decades to get through.

This is his favorite GIF for this time.

Crap. Facts take away even this one small relief. Have you found anything that does work?
    Aaron Parecki
Nothing. Nothing helps, everything is pointless. Eventually it will all blow over but until then we'll all just be miserable. 🙃

    Boiling with electric or gas?
    Aaron Parecki
Electric 😕 but as much as I like cooking with gas I don't like the idea of highly flammable substances piped into my house, especially right now

many of the laser-based pm sensor packages, such as novapm, treat high humidity as pm material. I don't know if steam works or not, but you'd need to steam the place up and then dehumidify for an accurate reading. Steam might also humidify the place which helps sinuses. idk
    Aaron Parecki
It's the opposite, the sensor reads a room full of fried oil as a huge spike but isn't reacting to this steam at all

quick gif showing how i made my latest thumbnail in keynote using a shot taken with the #pixel4a.

keynote is so good for thumbnails. i keep a running document for them all so i can see how i'm flowing from one thumbnail to the next.

    Aaron Parecki
okay I'm sold. gonna use keynote for my thumbnails from now on.

I deleted my previous tweet because it turns out the email was legit. Thanks to @missdr_williams for clearing that up. However, I recommend never encrypting PR docs in an email, because then Gmail can't scan them for viruses and it looks suspect. Gotta stay frosty out there, fam.
    Aaron Parecki
oof that is 100% a suspicious email though, and *exactly* the kind of thing that leads to account takeovers. Even better than sending a PR doc in an email would be to send a link to a website that requires a password. The browser is way safer than downloading anything.
