Nice. They should be able to mix a totally neutral 18% grey, but that’s a good approach. I love me a nice blue-grey but if you’re gonna light it with colored LEDs or gels then yeah, total neutral would be good. Or, just paying it blue grey and not light it. That works too LOL
    Aaron Parecki
I still need to invest in some decent lights to actually light the background now! In the video I shot today it looks pretty much black.

That’s what I thought. Thanks. Nice, measured 18% or just something that looked middle-grey-ish at the paint store? I need to paint my new wall this weekend.
    Aaron Parecki
I did this with my studio, I brought the X-Rite Passport video to the paint store, asked them for their most neutral greys, then found a shade that looked extremely close to the middle grey chip. Some grey paints have colors so make sure to ask which ones aren't tinted.

@aaronpk Hi Aaron. I was over at the LiveVideoTech forum and was thinking of listing my ATEM Pro for sale, but am unable to create (b/c I am not level 3).

Nice! I just changed the permissions on the category, try again?

That’d make a good video… “my transition from FCPX to Resolve”
    Aaron Parecki
I just exported my second video from Resolve and now I’m tempted to make a video about switching from Premiere to Resolve. So far it’s been a pretty quick transition, and Resolve makes way more sense to me.

Man I just imagine people like a younger @imPatrickT being out of a job if we can just click a button and have all the blank spaces edited out.

I'd easily pay $1000 for a tool like that.
    Aaron Parecki
The worst part is this would be so easy to build, but BM is never gonna do it because did you hear how Grant talked about jump cuts in their latest announcement video? 😂

@danielpunkass The Chromebit sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

this is why scripting would be useful, easy to replicate. I winged this one and it was great but winging again will not produce the same result
    Aaron Parecki
Someone suggested to me once that I first record an off-the-cuff take, then transcribe it, edit, and then read off a teleprompter.

I haven't actually done that yet, I'm skeptical it would turn out the same, but I am tempted to try.

We made our first major hire this week!

We’ve got a social media/administrative manager. Basically someone to remind/force/assist with other platforms other than Twitter and YouTube. Also to do the brand invoicing (because I hate it).
    Aaron Parecki
wow, congrats, that's quite a milestone!

I was speaking to the fact tech and any consumer facing niches has the most diversity of ways to make money.

In just raw Adsense tech isn’t even close to the $20-$40 CPM categories of videos... tech usually tops at $12
    Aaron Parecki
Interesting. I was searching to see if someone had collected a list of categories with high CPM and your post from last year turned up so good job on that SEO 😂 https://medium.com/@robertoblake/how-to-triple-youtube-adsense-earnings-and-make-more-money-on-youtube-37b0330f33e6

Comparatively yes, but not just on CPM but because of brand deals.

However a $5 CPM is roughly a $3 RPM in terms of what you keep.
    Aaron Parecki
I'm just talking about AdSense revenue, not other sources. (My affiliate links make about 2x the revenue of AdSense).

Do you mean brand deals within AdSense? I don't really know how any of that works.

If you decide you want to do YouTube or you know someone who is going to start. Make the assumption that
    1000 views = $1 earned.

Because on average that’s what it’s going to look like, despite a few better paying niches.
    Aaron Parecki
My videos are about 1000 views = $5, is tech/camera YouTube one of these more profitable niches?

@aaronpk Everything work out ok? As in, no trouble getting your hair cut with a mask on and everyone else was masked up?

    Aaron Parecki
Yeah they have a whole set of procedures there now. They were closed down for a few months but opened up recently with new rules.
