I was speaking to the fact tech and any consumer facing niches has the most diversity of ways to make money.

In just raw Adsense tech isn’t even close to the $20-$40 CPM categories of videos... tech usually tops at $12

Comparatively yes, but not just on CPM but because of brand deals.

However a $5 CPM is roughly a $3 RPM in terms of what you keep.

I'm just talking about AdSense revenue, not other sources. (My affiliate links make about 2x the revenue of AdSense).

Do you mean brand deals within AdSense? I don't really know how any of that works.

If you decide you want to do YouTube or you know someone who is going to start. Make the assumption that
1000 views = $1 earned.

Because on average that’s what it’s going to look like, despite a few better paying niches.

My videos are about 1000 views = $5, is tech/camera YouTube one of these more profitable niches?

Yeah they have a whole set of procedures there now. They were closed down for a few months but opened up recently with new rules.

If you bought a new camera today for streaming/video with $1k budget (body only is fine for dslr), what would you get?

The Lumix G7 is probably the best bet. $500 including a kit lens. https://geni.us/sJFt Then upgrade the lens to the Lumix 15mm or 12-35mm for better depth of field. Also get the usb battery for continuous power.

Upload is a comedy but it’s like a legit passive critique of tech eating up everything and finding a way to charge for anything. Those without funds are forced to live at 10 minutes on the hour and you can’t even get clothes in some cases.

I watched through the first season of that wayyyyy too fast

Use the device flow for this, right @aaronpk?

Device flow is a good option for this. But the regular auth code flow and either automatically launching or just showing the URL to click on works too. Downside of that is the CLI app needs to spin up a web server to catch the callback. Device flow doesn't have that requirement

Need to patch Lighthouse to not have expiring tokens when attempting to send out Webmentions. I’m using JWTs (only because this inbuilt system is using that by default) and it’s a bit annoying to have this huge token string. Might consider implementing a simpler token that keeps data on the server so the client knows less

JWTs leaking info to clients is underrated

first few flights with the #mavicair2 today.

i never thought i'd say this but 4K60 is a minimum requirement in drones now. it effectively cuts your shooting time in half when you slow it down making it perfect for quick/safe flights to get coverage. i really love it.

So if set up a VPN server, which is what @alexlindsay was saying (I think) in my post on the Blackmagic forum.

if you just need a remote computer to control your studio ATEM, then running a VPN server in your studio and getting the client computer on your VPN will work great. That's a lot less involved than the full solution he was talking about.
