I can’t tell if it’s aperture (I doubt it) but my feeds don’t seem to update quickly. This is me also assuming that aperture somehow knows about websub and uses that to update feeds. I’m guessing that’s not the case @aaronpk? How would a real time feed work with it?

I still haven't implemented WebSub in Aperture yet. I think I might end up rolling all the feed fetching logic into Aperture instead of having it split out in Watchtower.

Right now, it polls feeds more often if it sees them change often, so your feeds may be updated at significantly different speeds.

PS Aaron, ATEM doesn’t need to program@existing buttons. It could just have a set of function keys that are unused by default like a tv remote.

Thanks! That'd work too but I was trying to suggest to them something they can ship in a firmware update without building new hardware!

I think this is just familiarity. Everything you say here is exactly how I feel about Celsius.

Also, if it’s as intuitive as you imply it should immediately catch on—I know no one who has to switch that finds it so intuitive.

Nah I didn't say intuitive, I said expressive. It'd take more than 280 characters to explain what I mean. I don't think either is ideal though.

Well @curtisjudd, @EposVox, and @GeraldUndone have all convinced me to get the zoom F6.

Decided I wanted a good recorder to go with my new microphone.

After you tweeted that I went and looked it up, and I think this is the answer to getting good audio for livestreaming from the ATEM Mini Pro *while also* feeding into a Zoom/Skype call and routing that call back into the ATEM. Gonna give that a shot!

Also… water is everything. When does rain become sleet and snow? Near zero. When do puddles freeze? Near zero. When do roads become icy? Near zero. C. Always C. What’s “hot” out? To some, 70F is hot. Others, 80. Or 90. Or 100. Subjective.

okay new scale:

0° = freezing point of water
100° = 130°F (approx highest recorded temperature)

Best of both C and F.

0 = jacket
10 = sweater
20 = room temp
30 = hot day

Those are pretty straight forward.

fwiw I was determined to switch to Celsius a few years ago, and actually set all my devices to it. I lasted about 8 months, in a temperature range from 10-36, and concluded that Fahrenheit is more expressive and switched back.

Caleb, usually I agree with you. But this time I have to say “everyone is entitled to their own opinion… unless they’re wrong” 😂 Celsius is logical. 0°C=freezing H2O and 100°C=boiling, vs 32°F/212°F. 0F and 100F mean nothing.

oh no. Celsius is only logical for water and science. For communicating with people about livable temperature ranges Fahrenheit is much more expressive!

Maybe I'm more sensitive to smaller temperature changes, cause for me the difference between 70°F and 80°F is huge, and that's just 21°C-26°C

Such nice, easy numbers to remember.

I'm all for metric for everything except temperature. That 0-100 only works for water. Fahrenheit does better at expressing temperature ranges that humans live in. e.g. "50s" (sweaters), "70s" (comfortable), "90s" (too hot).

I guess what I mean is I would rather put my energy into advocating for open standards than open source

Nah, I'm just not really interested in getting into a much smaller community for a hobby that has nothing to do with software. The resources available for Adobe/Davinci/FCPX far outstrip any of the open source apps.

@aaronpk I didn't mean for replacing it today, more like a strategy for the long run. I personally am trying to get rid of most of the proprietary software I'm using. Installed my own Jitsi server two days ago for example.

I dunno, if anything I'd probably switch to Davinci Resolve, at least the basic version is free.

@aaronpk ever tried Kdenlive? I know it's not as powerful and feature rich as Adobe Premiere but it's often good enough for the more simple things and it's free software.

oof somehow I suspect I would just have a million other problems with that. I'm sure it's fine for straightforward stuff, but if this clip is confusing Premiere of all things...
