@aaronpk zomg. I semi-randomly navigated to https://oauth2simplified.com/ and scrolled... and saw the cat.
The Mystery of the Cat Sticker I've had on a now-dead laptop (I was at some dev meetup and we did a sticker-swap) is solved! It's old tho, doesn't have yellow eyes.

I'm happy to send you a new one if you want!

Another day, another "bring back Google Reader" article that does not acknowledge Reader's extremely robust social features.

These features allowed someone to, for example, share an article they liked to their friends and spawn a private mini-forum to discuss that article. It was similar to sharing an article with friends on Facebook, but based on your RSS curation rather than whatever you got from Facebook's awful news feed.

    Aaron Parecki
    Yes! This!

This is why I keep talking about the need for a "social reader", not just bringing back RSS!

I'm spending a part of my quarantine learning After Effects, finally. I'll probably never consider myself an animator, but being able to move things around the way I used to in Flash (and still feel sort of relevant) will be good for me.
    Aaron Parecki
After Effects feels eerily similar to Flash in some ways.

(I have friends who work professionally in animation down here if you want to be connected to them!)

I don't really have much of a budget for this but I will keep that in mind thanks!

I feel the same way all the time! - What have you tried so far, if anything? I feel like the adobe suite is a bit overkill and overcomplicates but there doesn’t seem to be many viable alternatives
    Aaron Parecki
I've done some in Keynote, which works great for relatively simple animations. I've tried learning Apple Motion and Adobe stuff too, I guess I just need practice to be more fluent in them.

Don't shoot me but I can't figure out how to edit faster with Logic Pro X for audio podcasts than I can with FCPX.
    Aaron Parecki
Dude I edited podcasts in FCPX for years!

I’d never thought of that 🤯

I just maximize the clip and match it up to make it sound seamless and if it doesn’t work too well I’ll use some b roll to make it less obvious.
    Aaron Parecki
cross dissolves are the secret! You can even sometimes splice two different takes mid-word this way!

Dear everyone making launch and YouTube videos... in a TikTok world... everyone is skipping your intro.

Either give us a bitton to skip it (ala Netflix) or save some money and don't bother recording it.

PS...and talk faster. Not all the players have viewer speed control.
    Aaron Parecki
People constantly complain that I talk too fast! But I'm dedicated to it cause I end up playing back videos at 2x all the time.

PSA for all iPad w/ hardware keyboard users. You know that hyper-annoying bar that pops up at the bottom of your screen, that you constantly flick away? I finally figured out how to get rid of it. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard and disable BOTH “Shortcuts” and “Predictive”!
    Aaron Parecki
but for real, the actual reason I had to turn it back on is that's where the "password" thing appears to autofill passwords
